insane: Brilliant, about time one of the mobile telcos came out with this, and no suprise it's not one of the two large ones.

I'll give Telecom/Vodafone about a month to do the same.

I would imagine the other party that sbiddle mentioned will be most like VF but also possibly TNZ.

nate: A client of mine already has this (with Vodafone), however they've got over 1,000 sim cards.  Nice to see it come out for the little guys ;)

Telecom also offers it for large customers, but I didn't know whether Vodafone did.

This is something I've been wanting for a while...
Tethering the tablet to the phone doesn't let me manage battery life the way I want to. Plenty of power in the tablet at the end of the day... not always a lot left in the phone.

Looking forward to more details

Its up on the website now

free until December then $5 per month and an extra $1 per device. I love the idea and am happy to pay the extra $6-7 per month to be able to use my 1gb of data from my current plan on extra devices. I never go through it on just my phone alone and it saves buying another sim/plan and having the hassle of topping it up every month! Good job guys!

I put my wife on it this morning. That means I don't have to take care of her iPad any more...

Interesting how people get one free GB per month, but what is confusing is that on pay monthly the free data is Nationwide but the free GB is only in Zone just like the free 1GB in zone data with the snapper deal.

The bonus data you get for signing up to Pay Monthly is national data. The free data for Touch2Pay is Broadband Zone Data.

Yes. You'll need to be on Pay Monthly and she'll just need an active 2degrees SIM card.

I have no reason to be on Voda now.

It certainly makes me think twice before signing up for another 24 month contract. For that I fully utilise the 3GB data plan I have with them. All I can say is bring on July when the voda Smart plans roll off.

This is pretty cool.l I just gave a smart phone to my son and signed him up to the $19/plan so he could have some data. I will cancel that and he can share my 1G. Similarly my wife's iPhone is on a monthly plan that only provides 50MB of data so she has to make sure the 3G data is off most of the time. She complains that when she is on the road she can't get live weather updates.

Now I can also put her on the same shared plan.

1G of data I find is plenty for me since last month I still had 600MB left out of my 1GB.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

I think I worked out with 3 devices it is worth it, or > 1gb usage.

I pay $20 a month for 1Gb of data, and the wife $19 (I think) for the datacombo - gets her texts, 300 mb of data and some minutes.  I use no minutes and very few texts (but about 700mb of data).  That's the same cost as the go monthly $39 plan that I think is the minimum for the shared data - without adding the 6 charge for sharing the data.  Also when the bonus 1 gb of data goes away, you'll be left with 100mb of data.

Hopefully plans will change by the time the bonus data expires.
