sqlpro: just spoke with help desk and was told "get settings" does not work with android phones !!

He helped with APN settings and works fine. seems no settings are required for SMS.
just wondering what happened to my google calendar alerts, stopped receiving them since changed 2degrees!


they work for me every day!

Sort of sounds like you have some sort of OTT messaging app as well as or instead of normal SMS? PM me your number and I can check to see whether anyone has tried to send you an SMS and if so what happened.

sorry guys if am i misled but i had issues with both (SMS & Data).

when activating online account 2degreess help desk sent password via SMS which i never received.I had call helpdesk again to get password verbally.

My phone also wont connect to data either so with your suggestion i called helpdesk and created APN . Now data works fine.

re SMS, i went to settings (android phone) and had to select 2degrees under network and restarted phone (twice) and now seem to be working fine as i got one of my friends to send me a sms.

my other issue ,I still dont receive google calendar alerts( notifications can be sent via SMS) probably 2degrees is not one of the supported carriers.

Thanks again for your advise.

Thank you saltynz. I use "handcent sms". BTW i got one of the friends send me sms and it came thru.

interesting, for some reason it just stopped working after switching to 2degrees. I tried to resend verification code but not received any txt with verification code.

Why would you use an SMS app??

Have you tried removing it to see if its the problem?

So there was no issue, op couldn't figure out how to call the help desk. As for the other issues, its prolly because the number was ported.

Google are probably still directing the messages to VFNZ not 2D
There have been previous threads about ported numbers and international SMS notifications/providers

Update: Finally today my google sms alerts starting working again after resetting the verification.

it looks like it took 2 weeks to change over from vodafone to 2D!
