Have you tried sending a message to yourself first?

You don't need to change any settings on the handset to get incoming SMS

As above not related to any settings on the handset at ALL

Test by sending a SMS to your own mobile number from your mobile number

Doing get settings is not going to get your handset to attach to a Cell site

Is the handset logged onto the 2Degrees network now?

You should contact 2degrees help desk.

just spoke with help desk and was told "get settings" does not work with android phones !!

He helped with APN settings and works fine. seems no settings are required for SMS.
just wondering what happened to my google calendar alerts, stopped receiving them since changed 2degrees!

Your phone provider has no connection what so ever to content in your google account.

So are you now getting incoming SMS?

I thought this was the whole point of this thread

We told you from the start that no settings were needed to receive SMS. Then the story changed to "SMS with settings for data".

Sorry, but we can't help if the story changes in every post...
