NZCrusader: Probably different bandwidth allocations & quality control.

Also suckers are willing to pay that much. Business deals yield better returns than residential.

Well it's disappointing that both attempts to try and have Snap confirm this have resulted in no answer, not very transparent or professional.

If business data is provisioned differently would this really constitute such a significant cost increase?

Do Snap have a dedicated business team?

where did you see that? IMO since they will allow you to move to UFB without contract issues its a no brianer to got vdsl now. Router price with the deal isnt much more than a half decent adsl2 router anyway.

My only concern is around voice quality with voip.

That is an unknown for me.

My wife is profoundly deaf, but can *just* hear on the phone.

Any comments around voice quality from people who are already using voip?

I would have to say I am not that impressed. I have a 70mbit DSL connection with very low latency, and I have dect phones connected via ATA's and there is a marked difference between POTS and VOIP with VOIP not being as good.

Mileage may vary, but if I knew then what I knew now I would have kept our pots line.

When I was bothering with voip at home, so long as the connection was idle (I never bothered with QOS) it was great, better than the landline I had in the past as there was less echo on the local handset on the ATA compared with the analog line (you know the annoying hear yourself talking slightly afterwards - not the sidetone generated in handset)

Sometimes when calling a few other people with junk phones there was an annoying echo, but that was present but with a little less delay on the analog line anyway.

Only time it sounded aweful and unusable was when I was playing around with g729 modes - stick to ulaw and it was golden.

Q: for snap. Any reason this is only available on naked? Might get a friend to change off a vodafone adsl plan to this but keeping the analog line is a must for them.

Oh ok, thought you had found the bad news out for sure somewhere else. I'm in that range too and based on the cabinet roll out where I am being left till almost last then its probably going to be the same for fiber. Sigh, joys of living almost at the end of a peninsula.

Promo is running for an indefinate period of time, not currently set, when we decide on a time we will definately let you know!

Hi Richard, It's only really available on naked because with a POTS line, you need to have a splitter installed (expensive), the speeds can't be guaranteed as well as we can with nDSL.

We aren't completely opposed to having people on POTS with VDSL - in the end if you are willing to get a full wiring install done with a splitter installed, then it should work fine.

The reason there needs to be a splitter, is because the POTS interfers a lot more with VDSL and a normal filter just won't cut it!

LOL would love to sign up but no sign of VDSL on my street, although if I lived a little closer to Milford would be fine (about 3 streets away).

Back to the long wait until 2019 for UFB it is :-)
