shadybrothers: Can these be mixed and matched?

Sure, but I think your National data gets used first. It's on the 2ds website somewhere about how that works.

If you are in a mobile broadband zone, then your mbb zone data gets used first, then your national data, and then its casual data at 50c per MB. If you are out of zone, then you can't use the mbb zone data so your national data gets used first.

Perfect! Thanks for the info! Any issues with number porting via their online store? I have limited time during business hours so have to make some hard decisions.

this is a slap in the face!

Porting online generally works well and takes a few hours to go through. There can be the occaisional gremlin. It took about a week for the texts to be routed correctly for my sister in law.

If you're in a mobile broadband zone and you have used up all the data, then the casual data costs 10c/MB, not 50c/MB. It's only 50c/MB when you either a) don't have an MBB pack, or b) are not in MBB zone.

If I am in a mobile broadband zone and I use up the data will the national data be used in its place?

Just call them and ask, the answers to your questions are logical. Think about it, if you have national data and you have used up all your broadband zone data, what do you think would happen? National is national, otherwise known as nationwide.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

If you are in a broadband zone, it uses broadband data, then national pack data, then postpay plan data, then cash @10c/MB till the validity of the BB pack ends.

If any of the above do not exist, they don't get used.

stevenz:
loganjames: Nope, its a great deal. 1GB is national (anywhere) and the only catch is a maximum break fee of $300 if you cancel early! But as you get $250 off a phone that's fair enough.

What are you using that you'd prefer it over a sgs III?

Galaxy Note. I've got massive hands and even an SGS3 is too "small" for me to be able to type on unless I do so incredibly slowly. Plus I had a play with one and they feel like a cheap chinese knock-off, and that's even in comparison to the Note which hardly has the most amazing build quality.

Plus at this stage, I'd rather have the money.

The Galaxy Note is dual-core 1.4GHz with 1GB of RAM....and my wife LOVES that massive 5.3" Super-AMOLED screen.

Easily an awesome phone.

stevenz: I've noticed that if I switch to 2Degrees on a $39/month plan and get the SGS3 (which I'd just sell and keep what I have, should be able to break even) - then for $1 less a month than the current Telecom plan, I'm getting 70 more minutes, 2200 more texts, and 600MB more data.

This seems too good to be true (which is a sad indictment on the state of data allowances on NZ plans, but I digress) - what's the catch other than the 2 year contract?

Presumably the data is "local" only and doesn't apply if I'm roaming on VF? I can't find anything stating what "type" of data this includes.

Telecom aren't offering anywhere _near_ as good a deal as this, so might be time to jump ship methinks.

Why not go to Telecom and ask what they will do for you to keep your business?  Could be worthwhile, who knows  Cool

Is it just me, or was there another post that has just disappeared?
