charliebrownnz: Ever since the unlimited plan has came out the in-game latency I experience between about 7pm and midnight has been terrible. Up untill about 6 weeks ago I wasn't noticing any lag whatsoever and now I'm getting up to 2000ms lag in diablo 3. I've logged a support call, and rung them 3 times and have been told the last two times that I have to await a tier 2 tech support person to contact me the next day. So either its just pure co-incidence that my experience has degraded just recently or the unlimited plan is affecting users that choose not to go on unlimited plan.

Its a real shame as I've always been a good fan of orcon, recommended them to people and have never had issues untill lately. If I don't hear back from that support person then I'll probably change providers.

Hi

Can you let me know how Diablo3 performs over the next couple of days. We have done some tweaking which might help.

Thanks for the reply. Last night the latency kicked in at about 6pm again, by 7pm it became unplayable.

I'm not sure if it is just Diablo 3 that is slow, I will try a bit of xbox live if Diablo slows down. I also notice that general browsing response time slows down when Diablo does - when I say response time I mean that the page loads fast after a 2-3 second delay. As far as download speeds go I've tried a few 30 megabyte downloads from download.com and hp.com and the speeds do slow down to 300 to 500 kbs which is about half of my normal speed - I use a download manager. I've also ran some speedtests however these don't seem to reflect my actual experience.

Update: I also get occasional connection drop-outs once things start to slow down.

Update2: I forgot to mention I'm not even on the unlimited plan - I'm on Orcon @ Home 70GB. Previous experience with unlimited plans on Telecom and Slingshot put me off as their performance was abysmal.

Sorry about that, I implied it in my first post but didn't explicitly say so.

Yes I have logged it via the website and phoned in a number of times. Ran some diagnostic software sent to me from the help desk and was told a tier 2 tech would look at it. Havn't heard back since I phoned on Thursday. I only posted in this forum as the service degradation only happened not long after the go-live of the unlimited plans.
