They told me that they estimated my speed would be ~13-14Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up on ADSL2 and ~17-18Mbps down and 7Mbps up with a 8db attenuation.

That *may* be a fairly conservative estimate. The online VDSL speed estimate they used to have gave me an estimate of 18-19 Mbps for my address (Not sure if snap still have that on their website) At the time another ISP did a pre-qual and came back with an estimate of ~25Mbps I believe.

Both were conservative (the snap one very conservative) as I'm now on VDSL and syncing at 36/10 and get actual throughput of 33\9.5+ YMMV of course but that was how mine ended up :)

The other thing to consider is the upload speeds.. A 7x increase is well worth it for me for uploading photos and online backups etc. The download speed boost is just a bonus given most international sites won't push that much on a single thread.

I was told when I signed up I'd probably get about 33Mbps down and 10Mbps up. I'm currently sync'd at 42.8Mbps down and 10Mbps up. I have two jack points and no mastersplitter. I am planning to run some cat5e direct to my router but its only to try and get a little more speed out of my line. I'm only 200m from my cabinet.

Because I already had a line in my house I went with no install option. Just connection. Even with the new run of wire I wont be getting Chorus do it at their insane pricing.
