Thanks to all who have replied. Also thank you Stephen.

I am still concerned how easy it was obviously to apply and get an account created these days. I did approach the Police and they advised if I have another instance or suspect something else has been done they will investigate.

FYI - you can get Veda to email you alerts whenever anything happens on your credit file. I signed up for this as any other enquiries will be emailed to me within 24 hours. good way to be proactive in protecting your identity.

This makes you realise how important your ID is these days. Reminds me of the movie 'The Net' with Sandra Bullock.

how it was connected when I have no copper. I suppose slingshot will tell me.

when I put my address in the chorus checker. It says UFB is the only service available at my address now......

Thanks to everyone... Feel much better....

So did you find out how someone was able to sign you up, or who it was who did it? That to me would be more of a concern, than having problems then getting the company to cancel it.
If it was done over the phone I believe they record the call, at least that is what they did when I last signed up to an ISP, so they have it on record. OR if it was done by a cold calling door knocker, I would presume they would have a signed contract on paper.

100% agree and I wouldn't let the matter rest until I have an answer to that. And yes, they do record everything and can confirm from personal experience that they have the facility to go a very long way back in their call recording history.

I'm out of my mind right now... please leave a message after the shriek...

This is true.  You may even be able to request the call to listen yourself.

I hardly think this identity fraud. What benefit would anyone have to connect a line at your house? Even if they connected at a different address makes no sense as the police would have an easy time finding them.

old3eyes: Fair Go loves Slingshot. Have a talk to them as well..

Slingshot already replied here saying things are moving, so why this suggestion?

If the OPs been slammed then I'm sure there other are but we don't know about them.  Be surprized what come  out of the woodwork when it appears on the likes of Fair Go..
