I would have a go at getting the vdsl profile set to 17a too. I have a customer with this profile and regularly see download throughput speeds around 55-60Mbps.

if possible, ild love to go for a 17a profile.. trawling the forums, i believe chorus dont put you on it anymore, and DLM does the job?

made the transfer last night, modem is due to be here thursday/friday so wont be long now and i can start playing - and actually using the internet.. the cap currently here could go in a few hours with my usage!

any tips for getting down to DLM-1 fast? or things i should avoid doing (in terms of tweaking the line before DLM does it job)?

They tried with DLM but didn't get set to it. Only got set to 17a because we had a frequent disconnect fault and when the fault man came I made sure I was on site and got them to set 17a.

ah ok, so if i was to have "fault" i could possibly convince them to set it then.. hopefully the day when the vdsl gets put in ill be home from uni to sort that :/
why is it only added to the line in such a case, i may have missed it.. but i dont quite see the downsides of it..

still trying to get the line all provisioned however, hopefully tomorrow.. ill have a set date

feel like a caged cat! was hoping to get off this tiny plan and onto snap asap ah well

im hoping wooshs connection is just congested, had a few decent night.. but tonight's certainly a bad one..
2    91 ms    86 ms    81 ms  lns4.sky.woosh.net.nz [202.74.206.10]

i just hope that latancy is woosh side.. and not the cabinet/exchange..

RalphFromSnap: Hi guys

Great timing! This is something that we're looking at introducing over the next few months, but we want to make sure that we can deliver our usual high quality service (and we're so busy selling VDSL and UFB services ...)

What would be good to know from everyone is what sort of features you'd like to see with the service. Would there be anything over and above the standard (voicemail, call waiting, caller ID) features you'd want (and might pay for)? What about calling bundles?

We have our own ideas but always great to hear what you guys (and gals) value.

Cheers
James

Voicemail - nice to have but not essential. Having them sent to email would be nice.
Call waiting - I don't need this.
Caller ID - yes, please!
Calling bundles would be great IF they were offered like prepay, so pay as you need for what you need. I can go a month or more without making a call on anything other than a cellphone. Then something may happen with family overseas that sees me making heaps of calls. It would be nice to be able to pay in advance for anticipated needs. An alternative would be to have minutes roll-over so they don't expire at the end of every month but must be used within any 12-month period.

Like others, I am keen on VoIP over ADSL2+

Hi Elpie (& others)

Thanks for the feedback (especially on the pre-pay), we'll throw that into the mix.

It's still a work in progress but hopefully we'll be in a position to make some announcements in the next month or 2.

Cheers
Ralph

Any update on the progress with this? I'm a very happy Snap customer and currently have phone & ADSL with you guys (no VDSL or UFB available unfortunately), but would prefer to be using VOIP.

SCM: I have Snap Plus on ADSL, it works just as good as it should on VDSL

Interesting, I asked them last week while speaking to them on the phone about another technical issue and the CSR said that they're not currently offering it to ADSL customers. I was the second person to ask that particular CSR that day so he'd already spoken to his manager about it that morning, so there's obviously some demand for it.

I would get it if it was offered.

I had one CSR say they don't do it on ADSL too, this was said after they had already connected it here.

It could be that I am being a tester for them though they have not said anything along that line. The CSR that put my order through did say they were tweaking things so that the quality did not suffer on ADSL...

Good, now you can get back to focusing on your Lightwave Home Deluxe plans, or at least applying pressure to ChorusVan to drive a bit faster to deliver the profile ;-)
