hey,

just wondering if its possible to get snaps viop service on adsl, moving to a new place that i plan on upgrading to vdsl once things are all settled, and i can assure the line doesn't need work done to it, or sort any issues that do arise..

since i plan on going to vdsl, i understand generally you want to go naked to get the best performance so viop would be a must..

the other option would be to go down the 2talk viop line, but it all being on the same bill will make things easy to sort out...

the place currently has a connection (woosh) so that will need to be transferred to snap, whats the best method to transferring with least downtime?

according to sat, its just outside of vdsl range, and maps seems to confirm that too, however a pre-qual came back as 3db attention, so i figure a cabinet must be not listed on there..

I don't think Snap do SIP over ADSL which is a shame, my parents are in the same situation. I ported their number over to 2talk and all seems to be fine with them!

You can do automatic CC topups which make things easier.

Just talk to Snap to confirm you're able to get VDSL2+ and go from there but by the looks of things you're able to.

im on ADSL2 with Snap and use there Voip services , they dont have plans as such but i pay $102 a month for the same VOIP service you get with VDSL and 250 GB GB extra data and i have had no problems for about 4 months now, Just talk to them and explain what you want to do

I'm using Slingshot's iTalk Voip service (500minutes/$11 per month plan) on Snap Naked ADSL.
Snap don't do any VOIP services.

how conservative are thoses rates? atlest from my constant trawling over the last few years, ild assume the vdsl could go much higher..

Hi guys

Great timing! This is something that we're looking at introducing over the next few months, but we want to make sure that we can deliver our usual high quality service (and we're so busy selling VDSL and UFB services ...)

What would be good to know from everyone is what sort of features you'd like to see with the service. Would there be anything over and above the standard (voicemail, call waiting, caller ID) features you'd want (and might pay for)? What about calling bundles?

We have our own ideas but always great to hear what you guys (and gals) value.

I was about to switch over to Snap ADSL last week, presuming I could have a Snap VOIP solution as well.

When I was old by a (friendly) sales rep over teh phone that I couldn't have Snap VOIP and ADSL but I could do that with VDSL, then I put my plans on hold. I know I could go with Snap for ADSL and 2talk for VOIP but I really want an all in one solution.

It is great that you are thinking of providing an ADSL/VOIP solution and for me I only want the basic options with VOIP - making abd receiving calls. I don't care about call waiting or caller display - we might receive 10 phone calls a month and make a similar number.

I'm almost happy to do away with a landline phone altogether and just rely on mobile but am aware that other people don't necessarily want to call you on a mobile.

Perhaps I could hook up SNal ADSL and flag the VOIP, and if I find we need it then hopefully you will have a solution available by then.

My 2c.

My 2c.

It takes 5 minutes to sign up to 2Talk and with an AP or credit card its pretty easy just to set and forget. I use the Fritz on VDSL to connect direct to 2Talk but ADSL would work fine.

All their VoIP offerings are listed on their website but they're only offering VoIP over VDSL2, not ADSL2+. I would pick this is purely a CPE related decision.

soo, moved into the new place now, they currently have a fritz box here - im already loving the spectrum views etc

as far as i know, the line is unfiltered currently.. with atlest 4, possibly 5 or 6 jackpoints, so clearly that will need to be dealt with. however, that aside, seems im due for a great experience, and since i can already see the stats, might even be worth going straight to vdsl!

modem is also currently set at max performance in all categories

so, with that is there any forseeable issues with going vdsl?

still need to give the wireing a proper look over - and work out how the faceplates work, used to standard dismantling standard BT jacks..

^^ Possibly worth it in your case to just go for it, give it a shot, if it fails you could always go back to ADSL2+ :) You've already got the right modem for it too!

unfortunately, this is a 7270, so no vdsl support.. playing around with the firmware, and it looks to be close to the same interface and all as a 7340/90 the features are just amazing i must say..

certainly gonna have to get onto transferring the line tomorrow (need to set in stone with other flatmates what we will be moving to, in terms of cost.. a null issue really considering im footing the bulk of it anyway though..) the current provider is woosh, and i must say, i certainly wouldn't look back.. peak time and all, but for a metered plan.. its worse than the unlimited orcon plan i just moved away from...
