DrCheese: I'm currently in California with an AT&T pre-paid SIM card and I am able to receive texts from my wife in NZ using 2degrees. But she doesn't receive my texts. Any idea why, 2degrees? It would be nice if it worked, but I can always Skype. It could be the fault of AT&T, of course.

David.

This is a question for AT&T not 2Degrees,

That's right. 2degrees has no control over AT&T's deliveries.

In fact the best thing you can do is phone AT&T customer care and demand they investigate. On behalf of 2degrees subscribers everywhere :-)

Hi 2DegreesCare,

I've suddenly stopped receiving batches of messages since Friday. I would be able to provide timestamps from the senders, any phone details you'd like if this can be followed up.

Have contacted call centre this morning and confirmed smsc is correct, I can send and still receive some messages so of course it was ;)

Confirmed no network dropouts - which call centre thought could indicate a faulty SIM.

Being on Android I've done a factory reset - APN's are all working happily, but data and mms aren't the problem anyway.

Brief example:
Text my partner at 8am this morning, receive a reply shortly after. She sends three more texts which I don't receive. She then calls me to confirm i've got messages (still haven't). I send myself a text, it works. We have been texting normally ever since.

Similar issue happened on Friday and Saturday with different senders.

This could of course be the fault of the sending network, or a software fault at my end - any light that could be shed would be appreciated.

Hi Batwing
Examples would be great. If you can PM the senders number and times of sending. I'd also recommend them contacting their provider in case there was an issue on their side.
Clearing your messaging apps data may also help as this can sometimes affect SMS -
Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All (at the top of the screen) > scroll down to Messaging > and press 'Clear data'  This will not delete your messages.

Cheers

redmouse: My son seems to be having this problem right now. His 2D prepay phone is not receiving text's but he can send them just fine. Everything was working until yesterday. He has called customer support, they got him to buy a blank simcard and moved his number to it, made no difference. He has also tried a number of other handsets. Being just 15, living in the same house as him during this period of text isolation is verging on the unbearable.

Hi, can you PM your sons details, including number, phone make/model and any examples of delayed or missing texts so we can look into his issue. A SIM swap should not make a difference, swapping handsets, deleting certain apps, storage issues etc may be causing this so we'd like to do more troubleshooting before we get to that stage.

Cheers

@2degreescare

Hi, Sorry for the delay getting all the requested details, have been waiting to get hands on logs from other people's phones. An read through of the first log certainly shows i've been missing more texts than I thought, and they never go missing outbound from 2degrees, only inbound.

Getting a few similar anecdotes from workmates and friends too, some of which have simply jumped ship because it seems too hard to bother with if they aren't of a mind to fiddle around comparing text logs from each other.

PM to follow once I've got the logs of texts to compare from both sides of some conversations.

Just got 15 texts at once - my backlog of missed texts from the last 30ish hours, could still be others missing but I woudn't know. Older missing texts are still missing.

13 texts from two Vodafone contacts
2 Google verification texts.

Mobile data and phone calls are still working fine.
