SCM: Why not just set the Time Synchronization to update from a New Zealand NTP server.
Snap's DNS server 202.37.101.1 also runs a NTP server on it.
I have not tested this myself yet though so it may not work

NTP server already set to 202.37.101.1... So time is in sync and correct etc, issue is really just somehow telling the Fritz Box when and how to apply daylight savings time.

From Wikipedia:
NTP provides Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) including scheduled leap second adjustments. No information about time zones or daylight saving time is transmitted; this information is outside its scope and must be obtained separately.

~

I guess Snap could possibly setup a different NTP server that adjusts for daylight savings, specifically for the Fritz Boxes? Though still kinda broken, seeing as other devices using the Fritz Box as an NTP that know what they're doing would be screwed up.

optrex: I'm pretty sure this is because we dont change our clocks at the same time as europe.

When comparing to the UK, we vary from +13, to +12 for a month, then +11 later in the year, before going back to +12 for a month, then +13 again so its always going to be a manual process for us, frustrating as this is.

Sorry, where does that happen? NZ is +12 standard, +13 daylight savings. We're never +11.

Yes we are. This happens when UK is in daylight savings and NZ isn't . For example, up until last weekend when we changed our clocks, when it was 9am here it was 10pm on the previous day there. That's an 11 hour difference.

Now that we've changed our clocks when it is 9am here it is 9pm there.

And come October 27th when the UK change their clocks, when it is 9am here it will be 8pm there.

Have a read of this
http://www.dia.govt.nz/Daylight-Saving

New Zealand Standard Time is currently defined in the Time Act 1974 as meaning the 12 hours in advance of Co-ordinated Universal Time

We go a further hour forward in DST. The UK may also change in and out of DST, but that has no effect on us. We are referenced from CUT, not UK time.

What a stupid argument. Optrex said "when comparing to the UK" so his statement is correct. As somebody that has phoned relatives in the UK every weekend from NZ for the past 13 years I can tell you that this is something that very much does have an effect on us. Ridiculous.

Ok, that's the net effect on calling. But New Zealand doesn't change to +11, the effect is caused by two different time zones. You would never change your clocks back an hour beyond NZ standard time and expect to still be in sync with the rest of the country. That assertion is ridiculous.

Especially since what we're talking about here is setting the correct NZ time onto a fritzbox, not calling the UK.

I'm unsure how to further clarify, but it's not an argument, it's set in legislation, that it where our time is legally referenced from.

I accept the time difference with many countries varies +/- 2 hours with the effects of combined DST and this is something to consider when phoning those countries, however, this has absolutely no impact whatsoever on time set in New Zealand being +12 (or effectively +13 in DST).

That's what Optrex was talking about and what I was backing up.

Actually Optrex specifically said "when compared to the UK". Off-topic maybe, but that's what he said and what you questioned.

Found the blog entry about the telnet "fix" I'd mentioned earlier:
http://blog-en.jochen.hayek.name/2012/03/avm-has-daylight-saving-time-problem.html

Looks to me like this could fix the issue and set the correct daylight savings time. Though bit of a PITA, and what about when a new firmware version is released. Access to this rule via the web interface surely not that hard.

Original post was more just to see if anyone around here has got their DST working properly on the Fritz Box and what everyone else is doing about this 'issue'. Both the blog and whirlpool post are 1.5 years old (read them months ago, but couldn't find any more recent info).
