sbiddle: How ironic that as the US move towards data caps with many large ISP's now imposing ~250GB caps on "unlimited" plans that we're trying to move from caps to "unlimited".

You have to wonder if the US move toward restricting data is a bandwidth issue or just a way of making people pay more for truly unlimited data?

You can't plan or build *good* networks around unknown usage profiles

Not like. I will stick with my current plan with free toll calls thanks Orcon!

Looks like they're lining their pricing strategies up with those of their competitiors, and losing one of what I thought was one of their main advantages - price.

Oh that's quite disappointing.  100/50 unlimited with voicemail/etc and free national landline calling used to be $134/mo, now it's $143 and that includes the $30 discount (?).  And the discount isn't specified as to how long it lasts ... forever or just til the end of the year.  At that rate I'd get an iTalk account and not plug a phone into the Genius.

Speaking as an Orcon customer, I don't like the fact they are getting tied up with Kim Dotcom.

*Waits until their datacentre with all my servers gets raided due to warez hosting....

so they have a fair use policy (albeit never yet enforced) but they are now claiming "truly unlimited" broadband on their front page. that seems a little close to untruth. The existence of the fair use policy means that it is not "truly unlimited"
I think they should really change it to "uncapped" or "no cap" or something like that to be clear.

This is all nice and everything, but how about some love for those of us unable to get Fibre/Genius because we live in the wrong area?

Disappointing. Was hoping for a price reduction not an increase. Won't change plans, will change isp.

We had someone use 9TB last month (mostly upload). They are still a customer. Others regularly use 1TB+. My family used almost 300GB last month, so yeah. I think your fears will be unfounded.
:)

Oh, I don't actually expect it to be an issue, I just find it humourous :)

Quentin, can you clarify if the discount on the 100/50 plan is for the life of the plan, as long as one signs up while the discount is on offer, or if someone who signs up while the discount is on offer will only receive discounted service until the end  of 2013?
