Common sense is not as common as you think.
vexxxboy: also what about the 200/50 plans Snap are trialing
Beccara:Sounddude: Gustov:
You know the fibre speeds offered by the ISP's are set by the FibreCo and Crown Fibre holdings right?
The ISP's have very little say over what speeds are available on fibre.
lol, Wrong. RSP's can add EIR blocks to any package you want.
afe66: I wont be able to get fibre for a couple of years, but when I do look into provider options, I am interested in overseas speed and a connection which makes it easy to bypass region locking. ie Netflix, Hulu, iplayer etc.
Also interested in router options (if included in the package) which would make sharing these services to multple devices in my home with minimal difficulty.
I realise these problems can be worked around but judging by the number of post on this forum asking advice on how to connect smart tv, roku boxes, ps3 etc to netflix, it isnt as easy as some think.
Offering to provide such a service would have me looking more closely at your offer/product. (vrs Vodafone. telecom which I perceve as providing essentialy identiacal products)
A.
gustov: If Myrepublic are going to offer the same old 30/10 and 100/50 speed plans than they may as well stay home in Singapore.

And they have to pay extra for them....
How are myrepublic going to price below other ISPs if their costs are higher?

Why do you think uptake of UFB is so pathetic and well well below what the Government predicted? Why is it that fibre already runs past hundreds of thousands of homes but the uptake is still something like a single digit percentage?
Why can't people be bothered to accept a 100% free install and free wireless router to switch from copper to fiber?
Well my guess is that the difference in speed between what they get with their existing copper ADSL connection and the 30/10 fiber plan is insufficient to motivate them to make the switch. But if the 100/50 plan was priced at the 30/10 plan, more people would see the speed difference and switch to fiber, that would make it truly worthy of being called "Ultra fast broadband". But people sure aint racing to pay a $30 premium to get 100/50.
Meanwhile Chorus, is crying poor, threatening not to fulfill its contract with the Government to roll out fiber, because the Commerce Commission has ruled that its copper ADSL prices are overpriced and have to be reduced.
