hhaammzz: Ever since I joined Snap I have had issues being able to connect to the game launching client origin, is there any known fix around getting around this? I believe I have opened all my ports correctly to let it through. It was working fine before I switched to snap. This is the last option i have to troubleshoot the problem after various uninstalls and reinstalls and reformats. Please let me know if you have any other issues that are similar :)

Any errors given by the client ? But as others have mentioned, Snap dosent appear to block anything for it.

Im on Orcon ADSL and use Origin and dont have to any any ports etc

cajetan8: In AKL - I play BF4 and ever since i swapped to SNAP, i can't open Origin by itself and have to "join" server on BTLOG page, when games starts it starts origin from there, that works....

also I've noticed when downloading game updates/patches in Origin it's been very slow during the last 2 updates, dunno why as on FIBRE and all my mates on ADSL/VDSL through others providers downloads 10x quicker than me, could be because SNAP is based in CHCH and me in AKL?

not looking forward to the next massive update in a couple days time - :(

Just to say that although Snap are based in CHCH, they do have an AKL handover as well as WLGTN so you're no longer diverted down south unless the handover point is full, which is why I'm peering in Wellington at the moment.

We actually won't divert users if a handover point is full - we don't want to be making decisions like 'oh, it's just a few users who will get sub-optimal routing' - that doesn't happen here. We order a bigger handover in advance of filling the existing :-)
The only time we'd consider that is in an equipment failure scenario where we can't get in to replace whatever it is - e.g., a health and safety hazard prevents us doing so. Even then, most of our kit has redundant components to avoid failures causing serious impact.

... On the topic though, I have Origin and BF3/4. I'll give these a thrash this evening and see what I find...

I'm curious then, as my hand over via speedtest appears to be in Wellington at the moment where by it used to be Auckland when Speedtest is picking the closest server; this has also been confirmed by Steam with Steamguard suggesting I was in Wellington.

when you say your handover, are you simply talking about your IPs geo location?

When you changed over to Snap, did you get a new router, or are you using your existing?
If the DNS settings are still hard-coded to your old provider, you might get weird responses, like some stuff not loading correctly.
This happens because most providers will serve cached DNS entries to anyone, but will only serve recursive queries (things that haven't been looked up recently) to users on their network.

I'm on SNAP fibre and use origin - never had a problem on either WxC or SNAP.

I know you've done un-installs reinstalls etc but have you cleared your browser cache?
