2degrees s3. Installed updated and phone now bricked. Sits stuck on Samsung sign or if remove battery/reboot sometimes comes back with a picture with sort of like an empty battery with a small circle in the middle going around and around. Several reboots and still just get either of those. Phone was fully charged before did update and is sitting on charger now.

Anyone with an idea. Extremely pissed off as in the middle of moving and have people trying to contact me.

Oh and also tried this but just swaps between a green android and the samsung logo with neither staying up long

------------------------------------------------
Problem: Really need your help. I have an S3 and yesterday got a prompt to update my firmware. I do so and when my S3 was restarting, after the update, it got stuck at the Samsung logo. It doesn’t move from that point. stays there for hours. I took the battery out several times. I also tried to connect the device to Kies but it won’t connect. It charges alright but won’t turn on. I’m really very stuck. Please help! — Nadia

Solution: You’re not the only one who encountered this problem. In fact, this issue seems to be so common after the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, although it’s not something serious. There are a couple of things you might do in order to fix this problem. The first is wipe clear partition and second is performing a factory reset. Both must be done in Recovery Mode.
While the phone is on, pop the back panel open and remove the battery for a minute.
Place the battery back.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power button but continue holding the other two until Android System Recovery screen appears.
Use the Volume Down button to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and press the Power button to select it.
Once the wiping of cache partition is done, highlight ‘reboot system now’ and press the Power button to reboot the phone.

If the phone is still stuck at the Samsung logo, do the following:
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power button but continue holding the other two until Android System Recovery screen appears.
Use the Volume Down button to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’ and press the Power button to select it.
Still use the Volume Down button to highlight ‘delete all user data’ and press the Power button to select the option.
Once the master reset is finished, highlight ‘reboot system now’ and hit the Power button one more time.

I've been having a few issues with unresponsive home key (from sleep) and battery consumption. I'll get around to factory resetting soon and see if that fixes things.

Check that Google now isn't being used and/or location services is off.

2DegreesCare: Hi folks,

This issue has been escalated to Samsung for investigation. From what we understand this is only impacting a few customers and we have successfully carried out this upgrade internally with no issues. Our priority here is to identify impacted customers and confirm that they are all seeing the same issue.

We have new Touch2Pay SIM swaps which will be changed over at our Wellington stores - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/2degrees-stores. Just pop in store and let them know it's a 4.3 Upgrade issue.

We currently have the following underway: -

• 4.3 upgrade for the S3 is currently on hold
• Relevant information has been sent through to Samsung for high priority investigation

If you are still having issues we'd like to know about it and send details through to Samsung.

We need to know your IMEI (Dial *#06# to get your IMEI number), your 2degrees number and if you're using a Snapper/Touch2Pay SIM. You're welcome to PM me the details but I need your DOB and address as authentication.

In the meantime here's some troubleshooting steps: -

• If possible try another 2degrees SIM in their handset – Can be done at a local 2degrees store. If your
• Try disabling NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and confirm if this makes a difference

Cheers

Are you referring to the snapper card no longer getting read? rather than the performance issue / home issue?

Yep, apologies, this issue is unrelated to the 4.3 upgrade. As you can see I've taken it down Ben. Sorry for any confusion there.

But aren't those features of the phone?

I'm talking about "excessive" battery consumption (I don't have a quantum for this) but it was significant and involved over 50% of battery consumed by gpsd. Probably a software thing,

I read somewhere else (can't find it at the moment) that it was the Smart-stay feature being permanently on that was draining the battery. Go to Settings | My Device | Smart Screen then turn OFF Smart Stay - apparently this returns the battery consumption to previous levels.

Jury's out on that so far, I've done this with mine and now am watching the rundown with interest.

Also the phone seems to have gotten really slow... probably a factory reset would fix that but I really haven't got the time to set it all up again, that'll have to wait for the university holidays.

Mine was already disabled. I'll factory reset when I get a chance and update this thread after that.

aros71: Several reboots, removals of battery and SIM card later, no joy.... then I thought to toggle Flight Mode - that seemed to do the trick. Be Warned. It appears Flight Mode needs to be toggled at every restart to get it to register on the network.

Try a factory reset, or wipe cache
