Where did you get your device from. If it is one from dse which isn't tied to a mobile network, samsung haven't yet released it. I have tried both the samsung over the air update and the kies software, and both say that there are no new versions available.

The official response from 2d last week was "soon", they didn't have a specific date.

I gave up waiting over the weekend and installed the VF firmware, which is something I'd been meaning to do for ages anyway since I am on VF and their firmware is better suited to the VF network rather than the 2d firmware.

Thanks for the reply.
I would just mention, from what I have read bearing in mind that you read a lot of rubbish in some forums, when you move to a KNOX rom the first CSC sticks and is hard to shift. Of cours depending on how you did the rom it may have stayed with the 2Degrees version.
Not that it really matters having the CSC from Vodafone as there willl hardly be a difference.
Also what I read was in relation to the first 4.4.2 rom for the S4 so it may not even apply.
Regards,
John.

At the end of the day you're always best running the firmware for the network you're on. In my case there are known issues that occur on VF running a 2D handset, including the phone being a real PITA to connect back to VF when returning from roaming overseas.

What are you on now. Mine is on 4.1.2 I hate they way Samsung are so slow in rolling out updates. I have a stack if Samsung devices and many of them they have walked away from and not bothering to update. I have switched over to Nexus now  at least I get updates as soon as Google release them.
My nexus 5 is on 4.4.2

Yeap it does suck, I am stuck on that version too. At least apple look after their customers by releasing ios updates regularly, and it is all tuned and tested so it installs well. Android seen to be hit and miss when updating. I think the s3 maybe the first and last android device I buy.

Just to update - i somehow connected to Kies (which is a miracle in itself) and it prompted me to update on Tuesday.  I installed that which was 4.3.

Plugged it in again today and it prompted for another upgrade - and then crashed on install.  Tried again - same result.  I have now just gone into the menu and hit the "check for update' and it has downloaded and installed.  Is 4.3 - build # JSS15S.1I9300XXUGNB4

I've applied this update to my S3, now it can't register on the network. Rebooted several times, removed battery, SIM card etc - no luck. Happened to my wife's S3 as well. "Not registered on network" message appears when attempting to call or text. Suggest not applying update until this is resolved. 2D can't help, they want me to call Samsung tomorrow.

Several reboots, removals of battery and SIM card later, no joy.... then I thought to toggle Flight Mode - that seemed to do the trick. Be Warned. It appears Flight Mode needs to be toggled at every restart to get it to register on the network.
