Has anyone successfully used Touch2Pay with a Note 3 yet? I just tried but the reader didn't appear to detect the presence of my phone at all. It can read my existing Snapper card fine . . .

Can't personally comment re the Note 3 but I presume you've tried toggling the nfc payment/wallet settings per my comments re the S4 above?

jakenz: Correction to my post above.

Just got on bus with s4 ON with settings as above. Bus reader recognized it but said please try again.

After multiple attempts with same result (and interested bus driver) I speedily changed the nfc setting to apply "sim wallet" as default. Bingo it worked.

So at face value at least different settings needed for parking meter vs bus

I tried mine for the first time today and got "please try again" multiple times. I gave up and luckily had my old snapper in my pocket.
Will try again tomorrow with sim wallet enabled.

Worked perfectly for me yesterday when SIM Wallet was enabled.  Before when SIM wallet wasn't enabled I just got "please try again".  It works even when the screen is off, which is interesting to note considering that NFC tags do not work when the screen is off, so I assumed that the NFC turns off when the screen is off.  I maybe completely wrong though.
Anyway it's great that it works, it even works through my thick Speck Smartflex Card Case for my S4.
I'm curious whether both NFC + the SIM are involved in the actually Snapper communication with the card reader.  Or whether it's just one or the other.  I might try and see if it works with a Qi wireless charging back for my phone, NFC doesn't work as part of the battery is covered.  I also just ordered a Qi wireless charging part with NFC too, hopefully that will work, not having wireless charging is a bit of a bummer, I'm concerned as the sim is partially covered by this back, so I'll have to see how it is once I recieve it.

Hmmm, where was that setting?

On a Note 3?  Pull down with two fingers for quick toggles.  Hold down on NFC.  It's right there.

Only options are Android Beam and NFC Secure Storage of which I have tested both options (auto and manual).

Interesting. I assumed the note 3 would be the same as the s4 in this regard. I'm obviously wrong. This is what I see

Very similar so maybe they have just changed the name. The images weren't loading but as a moderator I could see the URLs. I could only access this one so can you please re share the link to the other one. Presumably it shows the available options in the SIM Wallet? Or is it just enabled and disabled?

Thanks.

My apologies.  Here's the screenshot again.

Inside 'NFC payment' there's simply a check box for 'Sim Wallet'.  By default for me it was unticked.  Ticking that solved my problems

Thanks. This is what my 2degrees Note 3 has as options. I have tried all combinations with no success.

2degrees has suggested a SIM swap which I will do once I can transfer the balance across etc. Fingers crossed!

S4 update: success now across the board - phone on/off - bus & parking meter

NFC payment method is set to 'SIM wallet as per saeran's post above in every case (see screenshot of actual screen on which you select the payment method..  you get to it by clicking NFC payment in saeren's S4 screenshot above)

So my previous failed attempts with phone off with bus/parking meter (and odd reversed NFC payment setting on the parking meter) must've involved a crazy high degree of user error. Which is odd as I tried multiple times in each instance and could swear they just weren't working in those scenarios. Or just perhaps 2Degrees/Snapper have been tweaking things behind the scenes since launch. Or a combo of the two.

Either way, it's now all working as promised for the S4 at least.

@ 2Degrees/Snapper - your Touch2Pay guidance is strangely silent on the importance of the NFC payment method. A google search and a skim through your T2P FAQ pages draws a complete blank.

JakeNZ has a good point. Considering nfc sim wallet must be enabled for it to work at all, it's very important that this is communicated to customers however snapper nor 2degrees has done that.

Bingo.

I am also concerned that some hidden away setting is causing my Note 3 issue and no amount of sim swaps or frustrating on-bus testing experiences will fix that.

I did some testing at Snapper HQ with my Note 3 today. Issue verified. Next up is a resolution hopefully. Watch this space.
