Excellent - it looks like a master splitter has been installed correctly - this can be a cause of low sync rates if not done.

Is the modem up an running now OK? It may have been it had a firmware updated pushed at 03.00 when most people wouldn't be using the connection...

Any luck with logging in to get attenuation figures?

Nope router is still flashing dead, wish they would give some warning if that's the case, i had been having trouble for hours so when i lost connection i thought that was all so i did a power cycle, we all know what happens when we power cycle a device flashing new firmware, i'm afraid I've bricked it and its no fault of my own they need to make people aware if it is in fact updating firmware

AFAIK, none that are in NZ or telepermented.

you could get a VDSL modem, and bridge to a netgear router however.

Hmm that's shame it sounds like that gonna be alot of messing round and problems with port fwding and static ip's etc

I'll just how i go with this in the meantime.

Thanks for your help.

No it's the world's simplest setup. Around 2 mins and you're done. You won't have any port forwards or static ip's to deal with.

As for your speeds VDSL2 is a best effort service and can be affected by a number of variables. Your speeds meet the service requirements for a VDSL2 connection.

Most people see the major benefit of VDSL2 being the significantly faster upstream speed. If you don't see that as a benefit then you may as well move back to ADSL2+ if you're unhappy.

Well I don't have a chance to test this to see if it's worth it, basically what happened is at 3am they pushed a firmware update to my modem without warning and being a new modem I had only been using for 2 hours max I had no idea that flashing power light meant updating firmware and with a lack of a manual I power cycled it and bricked it.

They are very reluctant to release the firmware package for me to do it manually so now I'm without Internet for a week until my replacement turns up.
Should've stayed on ADSL and could've avoided this but someone has to learn the hard way I guess, I hope they revise their procedure for updates in the future maybe a popup window explaining an update is taking place or even a boxed manual explaining these scenarios, can't use google while your firmwares updating.

No manual with the modem??  that's bizarre.

Well it might not be installed correctly. Just because it has a nice plate on the front that says 'vdsl' doesn't mean the tech has actually wired it up properly in the back or at the demarc.

A lot of ISP's all manage their devices and push firmware updates out via TR-069 in exactly the same way. A popup window isn't possible as a router typically isn't accessible while performing a firmware update.

Emphasis on the "looks like".

Combined with a description of the technician working at the ETP, it is probable that it is correct.

Clearly, unless there are further photographs covering every part of the instal, cable path etc, combined with a spectrum graph once the modem is up and running, then we can't tell remotely for sure, but on the face if it, it appears to have been done correctly.

When I called them I asked a whole bunch of questions and they said my attenuation is 2 bar 8 which is apparently pretty good and that DLM could possibly ramp my speed up some more, so hopefully that's case because he tried telling me even though my download speed didn't increase by much that because my upload speed has increased so much it means I will download faster, now i don't know if he's taking the piss but I can understand some circumstances the high upload can get commands sent faster but I can't imagine seeing a massive improvement streaming a movie on 7mbps up compared to 1mbps

i still maintain something has gone outta wack, doesnt line up..

which figure was your downstream attenuation? upstream doesnt really mean too much.

They didn't give me a down and up figure just a general one I'm guessing
