With no surprise, Snap didn't call back as promised today, go figures.

Calling in now, but am 6th in the queue, so that generally means at least 45 minutes wait...

Interestingly, the router has connected itself back at 33mbps at some time during the night/day.

I don't think I am on DLM-1 though, because my pings to google and to speedtest servers are around 20ms consistently and no lower. Before I would get 4ms.

Also, despite being connected at 33mbps, my actual throughput is only 22mbps, so any content I try, no higher.

your pings should have increased by approximately 14ms at best.

indeed it sounds like you have moved onto an 8ms profile, as for your throughput issue, sounds very odd.

yeah, so definitely not on DLM1 then, which is no surprise really, given the number of reboots its done just in two days.

Im going to ask them what the results were of the line monitoring, and while I'm at it, ask for a DLM reset and hope that it resets its back to DLM-1 which I've had since day dot,  but I dont like my chances..

long as your not resyncing, you should be good to drop back t DLM-1 in the training period with ease.

if your line issues are breaking it though, resetting DLM may be a little moot.

SO.. Snap looked at the report - chorus advised that they dont see that its worth sending out a tech because a re-sync a day (though, it was only once while they were monitoring)

The internet was stable, until yesterday afternoon, at which point it resynced. got up this morning and it had gone back to full line speed, now back down to 23.

God damn...

unfortunately its one of thoses things you just have to keep at..

if it helps at all, my vdsl had a profile change that prettymuch broke it from then on (dropping about 10mbit on 8b, and clearly had an affect on 17a)

if you want it fixed, just keep trying, you will get it eventually!

I think I know how you feel.   I have spent the better part of the last 8 months trying to work out what was causing something not entirely dissimilar to happen to us.  We are sorted now BUT it was maddening getting it resolved.  The modem would resync and we'd go from a "normal" 45/10 line speed to anything between 36/0.2 (no kidding) and 43/8, and then later another resync and we'd be back to "normal" again.  Initially it was just once a week or so, but towards the end it was 5+ times per day.

Cutting a VERY long story short, it was fixed after the last Chorus tech "removed a fuse from in the cabinet because they're known to be problematic in this area".  He suggested that traffic rumbling past the cabinet may have had an effect.  The cabinet is on a route frequently used by (double) milk tankers and we also get the odd fully laden (double) logging truck rolling past.  No resyncs since.  I guess it created a dodgy joint that may have shuffled around when a heavy vehicle went past.

Unfortunately for an intermittent problem you will need to be persistent.  They are a real nuisance to diagnose.  I certainly saw Murphy's Law invoked on several occasions; whenever the line had a line test running on it, and whenever a tech got within 2km of the property.

Great to hear you got your issue fixed. Very strange to hear what it was though!!

The last few days the internet has remain stable at full speed, to the best of my knowledge. My DLM profile hasn't been reset to DLM1 unfortunately, but in the greater scheme of things, I'd rather a fast, full speed line with an extra 8ms ping, than a sloppy crap connection.

Though, I won't hold my breath, I can feel that this will take some time to resolve....!

7ms each way, so 14ms increased ping technically :)
