Hmm I also would have expected to get more mins/data signing up to a minimum term. There is no incentive now to get locked in for 24 months as youre just paying for the subsidy and cannot change if a better option comes up elsewhere. Where as before the subsidy was an incentive to sign up and stay with 2 degrees for a couple of years

So... you want us to force you to be locked in? It's a pretty simple choice: if you want a cheap (up-front) phone, then you can sign up for 24 months to get it. If you don't want a new phone, then you can get better network value and we don't force you to sign up for 24 months.

I'm already locked in...I'm an existing customer, who were told that we would always be placed on the most recent $39 plan (which was the same between open term and 24 month term), now 2 degrees has separated these plans and added significantly more value to the open term contract, while leaving customers on the 24 month term as is.

Do the Freedom plans have carryover minutes and data?

You do need to ask in order to change, but I do not think you will lose any accumulated stuff when switching from the Carryover plan. You would from one of the very old plans, but I believe (disclaimer etc) we don't take it away from the Carryover plans.

Note that the "buttons" to show the new plans don't seem to work in chrome for me. Had to switch to IE to see what the fuss is about.

I'm also on an existing $29 plan with no contract. Will this be rolled over to the new freedom plan next month?

If the plan you're on changes, then you will get the benefit. But this is the flipside of why we are doing what we are doing. Once you're locked in, you're locked in, and you can't change if something better comes along. With a Freedom Plan, you can. You could have, for example, gone from the $39 plan to the $29 plan, if that gave you what you needed.

Like I said, in return for lower risk to us, we give you more stuff, and don't force you to stay locked in. That's the bottom line.

No, have to do a plan change via the web site. Some people get upset when they get changed automatically. :-(

Looks like carryover is still working and certainly more 'profitable' than Voda or Telecom for my usage pattern.

My expereince with 2Degrees: I can recommend instore customer service as you'll find it helps to speak to somebody that can see your account detail and compare it with their experience serving other clients. For example, I downgraded my plan and got a 'free' handset that was worth more than the exit cost of the higher plan (plus I pay less each mo.). This was helpful for me and certainly not something I could see or work out from the web interface.

And at the time you received an incentive for signing on the 24 months I presume, so you want to have gotten the benefit, but don't want to pay for that benefit by providing 2D who provided that benefit with the cost certainty they get from a contract?
