CaseyDan: If you are within your contractual obligations, then sure pass on some form of cost recovery.  If someone has lasted well past your 12/24 month contract and they would prefer to downgrade based on their usage, then i cannot understand why they would rather let a client go instead of sacrificing a months worth of income as a sign of good faith.

What's funny is that I have lasted a 12 month contract with a 100/50 connection that to this day STILL doesn't work correctly after multiple attempts by snap to fix but they still wont let me downgrade for free. go figure

Yeah the irony.  In your case and for arguments sake, you have been paying for a 100/50 connection for 12 months, but have been provided a 30/10 experience.  So you decide to downgrade to 30/10 and they want to bill you for doing so.

I dont know the full details in your situation, but i thought our ISPs these days were past the whole deliberate traffic shaping but blaming it on the content hosts.

Yeah I have posted a bit about it on here before but basically my traffic was getting shaped down and my international is very low compared to snap vdsl users, paying $110 a month for a $75 sevice

but the final nail will be that you can downgrade for free after contract when they could give you 1 free a year so will probably be switching this connection to orcon or bigpipe as Iam with them in another property, hoping they start UFB trials start soon
