Slingshot: Hey guys,

So there is traffic prioritisation on the unlimited plan (even the old Plus plan) which can cause some slowing down for unattended browsing during busy times. Note this isn't throttling where the max speed of any particular type of traffic would be limited, instead it's a tweaking of, well, the priority of the type of traffic to make sure that people who are doing things that need an immediate response still get the best possible performance. Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Chris

What is "unattended browsing"?

Essentially anything that doesn't require you to be in front of your computer. Gaming will have a higher priority than file sharing for example.

allio: I'm currently on unlimited Naked DSL for $90, with no contract term left on my account. It looks like I can get unlimited DSL plus a homeline for $89, but I would be required to sign up to a new 18 month contract. Is that correct?

Additional question: the Slingshot website says I can get VDSL, but I'm doubtful (patched direct to the exchange, not a cabinet, and attenuation of 24ish db). Is it possible for Slingshot to do a more rigorous test on my line from their end?

Nope, no new contract for existing customers. If anyone says otherwise tell them I said it was so :)

If you want to flick me a DM with your address I can do a prequal for you to get a bit more info.

Cheers,
Chris

So at the least I can save a buck per month and get a home line - handy :) cheers for that. I've sent you a PM with my address too.
