Interesting speedtests, but I'm starting to think caching is in play here. Take it as a grain of salt.

I had a surprising voice message from a person at Snap NOC to call back to do some line tests. Unfortunately I wasn't available, but will call next week.

_b Snap for going out of their way to contact me first.

i m on 100/50 also. called them yesterday again and tried to get some updates, go to talk to Wayne and i dont know what he did ("Changed Some settings ") but after i restarted my router twice while on the phone my speeds came back to normal. He did not give me the details of the Fix but i m still on POP 37.

I now have my speeds to the Snap Christchurch server back to normal (197 down and 217 up), however my international speeds are still horrendous and anything I'm streaming etc. internationally is stuttering, buffering and causing real issues to watch (which on 200/200 UFB really shouldn't be happening) - recent test to the Dreamhost LA Server I am getting 5Mb/s down and 2.6Mb/s down.

Spoke to Snap and they are saying there is no international issue and that the "PoP Snap-08" issue doesn't exist, whereas it looks from comments here either it does or Snap are badly managing their international connections for UFB customers.

Also, does anyone know a good traceroute address to use to check international connections to the USA - would also need to know what is "normal" with a traceroute to that address.

I still haven't contacted Snap, but it seems as if it's improved. At least I can now max out my line with multi-thread.

So Snap must have found something with Dummyemail7 and applied it to the rest.

I'm not sure there has been any improvement for me - on 200/200 UFB the best speed I can get to the Dreamhost Los Angeles server is 6.93 Mb/s down and 3.74 Mb/s up - this is quite a difference from D1NZ's test of 81.65Mb/s down and 53.89Mb/s up and we are both in Christchurch on the Enable network and with Snap.

Even just the slightest amount of packet loss at that distance would make a massive difference. Would be good to see a bandwidth graph while your test is underway to see how smooth the tcp ramp up is.

Could it be hardware related? say like router or the fibre backhaul?

Well I don't get anywhere near the speedtest results D1NZ has for LA. I don't think I have ever seen that, but as said, I suspect it has something to do with caching.

In general though, it seems the speed to US has improved.

From my end it is unlikely to be hardware related as my setup is a home build computer with Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E 8-Core 3.0GHz processor, ASUS ATX DDR4 3000 (O.C.) Motherboard X99-DELUXE, 32GB Ram connected to an Asus RT-AC68 router by Cat 6 ethernet cable which is connected by Cat 6 to my Fritzbox (wifi disabled).

D1NZ - are you able to run another speedtest today to the LA Dreamhost server and post again to show it wasn't an anomaly?

Sure, Here goes:-
Speedtest done on few different PC and Mac all getting around this.

Thats pretty equal performance, Worth considering likely you were going over netgate transit on both spark and snap for those tests.

Did you end up following up with the NOC team? Having dealt with them before on a past issue, i can pretty comfortably say if they have made contact they are seriously looking at the issue and is well worth working with them to get it sorted.

Also I don't run any of those All-In-One router, I uses a self build PC/server and running pfSense, my build as following:-
Intel Xeon E3-1225 V2 @ 3.20Ghz
Intel S1200KPR server board mini-ITX
A-data ECC 4GB x 2 1600MHz
Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I350-T2
