manhinli: They're bound to consolidate under a single name later down the line, right? If so, what will it be?

2degrees Mobile (Two Degrees Mobile Limited) may drop the 'mobile' part, but that will make for domain name problems again, unless Two Degrees the winery considers otherwise; unlikely just like when 2degrees first launched.

(I'd like the domain to change - 2degreesmobile.co.nz is looooong.)

Should have remembered that from other social media links I've seen from 2degrees! Still though, that's more for short links than their main domain.

Time will tell if this move is successful, is there scope in our small market place for a third full service Telco? I have a worry that profits will be diluted between the three main players to the extent that neither makes a level of ROI to induce greater investment.

I hope this purchase does not turn out like the previous in telecommunications where the spreadsheet jockeys from the buying company are sweating the asset to get their money back to the point of turning off customers.

Cough Vodafone/Telstra Cough.

2degrees has decent customer service, but Snap is great, hopefully they keep up the standards. I'm unlikely to change my cell to the company though, coverage is significantly worse than Spark especially around areas like Wellington where there are many coverage blackspots - plus they won't let you roam in areas they think they cover well.

I wonder if this will lead with 2degrees "no contract" mantra into the broadband game like Bigpipe.

VF's utterly failed experiment to rebrand TCL, but apparently leave all systems totally separate, it will be interesting to see how they plan to integrate it (or not)

Callplus have take the route with Orcon of keeping everything arms length.

What will 2D do with Snap I wonder?

This does concern me a bit. As a Snap customer I have received excellent service since day 1. As a 2 Degrees customer I received awful customer service and this ultimately led to us leaving them. I do hope it is Snap that influences 2 Degrees in a positive way rather than the other.

2D and snap i thought are quite different entities. one does air waves, one does wired lines. should be quite different?

I've been with 2° since their launch and Snap since 2009. I've had nothing but great customer service with Snap (hell I even had one of their guys offer to lend me his own spare router as part of an isolation test), and while I have had a few rare crap experiences with the 2° call center (basically mixed messages and information), I've always been able to resolve it by poking POB on FB, Geekzone or email.

I am very interested in seeing what unified packages they come out with, as I intend to stay on Pay Monthly and upgrade to UFB as soon as it is available (July #nerdFlail)

E.G. Will 2degress-Snap now release a combined mobile + landline + broadband unlimited plan for $10 per month?

I do hope this goes well, as I've currently got accounts with both Snap and 2D. I've only really had one gripe with 2D and that's with them removing their contract's shortly after I re-signed (within 2 weeks) and I wasn't given any warning about that, or given any option for a possible newer plan etc, otherwise I've been a happy camper for the last 4 years with them.
