Yes, it was connected last Thursday with no hassles at all, but I was away for the weekend. However when I've been here no problems, Netflix and everything else seems to be going fine, and every speed test I've done (yup OCD!) has come in about the same. So all good so far. Only on ADSL though.

That's good to hear. I've only got ADSL available where I am too, so as long as I can get 10 down consistently I'll be happy enough.
I seem to be cursed when it comes to Chorus technicians doing work on my line. Every place I've ever lived, pretty much every connection or change I've had to had done by them, Chorus seems to manage to stuff it up. It never goes smoothly.

We're living below the broadband poverty line :-(

I have 12.5 usually, which is the same as with Flip, and just under 1 up. I live on a rural subdivision so new lines and not much load which is good. Only 600m too far for VDSL which is frustrating!

QJay: been told they are keeping it turned on for certain customers, but thats the last i'll say of it as i dont want to get it taken away

My Republic use CG-NAT too, I think you need to opt-out at $20 (from what I recall - might not be correct on this).

I'd personally recommend dns4me (http://dns4me.net). Cheap, great support and made by a New Zealander. Been using them for over a year now with zero issues.

Depending on what router you've got I've got a guide Here on setting up dns4me on Tomato / OpenWRT without having to use their DNS servers. This will soon be updated when they fully release their new API.

Yeah, I paid the one-off fee for a static ip. I've gone with getflix because they offer a vpn included in the price which is the only way I can get overseas content at the moment.

I tried a DDNS through DNS4ME and couldn't get it to work, even with tech support from them. To be honest, I'm sick of the hours I've spent trying to get a work-around to actually do what I want. Hence, I'm moving to another provider.
