Happening again.

Services affected; Browsers, Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge. Sites Stuff and so on
Netflix dropped (at end of episode - so end of buffer I assume)

Is this tied into the recent Truenet report showing Snap is slowing at peak time (9Pm i.e. now). Are you congesting the handovers in Wellington and dropping packets?

Suggest you do what 2degreesCare asked, near the bottom of the previous page - traceroutes. I doubt 2degrees is doing anything deliberately, they're obviously trying to get to the bottom of the problem.

Local sites seem fine, so it's more likely an upstream issue.

It is a complete loss of connectivity to some NZ and Australian sites. Connections to the USA remain.

Not even pings get through.

Smells more of a router losing the plot.

Hey everyone,

We are aware that this is flaring up again tonight, the good news is we are pretty sure we know whats causing it, bad news is we don't currently have an ETA on the fix. This appears to be contained to the Wellington area

Thanks everyone who has reported it here and who has sent through traces to the address on our previous post, this is greatly appreciated and aiding us in isolating the issue.

Running speedtests today I cannot get higher than 100/100 to any NZ speedtest.net server (including Snaps), on a 200/200 plan.

However I can run up a 160Mbps download from the US (and concurrent 40Mbps from local speedtest.net servers). So it appears to be choking on NZ peers which would indicate a local peering link running at 100Mbps/or 2D are shaping local traffic.

Wgtn customer btw.

Interesting.

I got really suspicious that it only seemed to be happening at Network Busy hour (around 9PM) which points to congestion and packet loss on a link somewhere. However, it didn't seem to be happening last night.

Hmm interesting. I am also 200/200 in the welly region and whilst I don't get what you are seeing I am getting 200/160 max on speed test. Never had this before.

Connecting to UFB? Go with Bigpipe and use this link for free credit!

My ping to the snap speedtest server also sits between 30-40ms. Which is also odd. I'm on a static IP, wonder if that is the difference.

Are people still experiencing this issue?

In our case its a work fibre connection so not sure what it was like at the weekend, but have problems yesterday and today.

I have an open ticket, but the issue seems very intermittent and hard to pin down
