Is anyone else getting micro outages to international sites on 2degrees (ex Snap) UFB this evening? Facebook isn't loading, Paypal is timing out, lots of sites are having issues. Paypayl GETs seem to eb working better than POSTs (like creating an invoice). I've had to give up on it, I'll try at work tomorrow.

Johnsonville, Wellington.

I'm getting the same problem. Kelburn, Wellington, VDSL.

I rung the help desk, but they have no record of any problem.

This has happened quite a lot recently.

Netflix kept running through the micro outages, but web pages couldn't be found, and WoW disconnected.

I'm at work, but my partner in Wilton on VDSL has been vocal with me about this. Speaking to the helpdesk now and there are "no issues" with the network...

Hopefully someone from Snap/2D can comment here, if not I'll call them if it happens again this evening. Annoying. This is the first time it's happened for me.

This has been happening to me for months. Support always has me run tracerouts and then "tests my fibre line for errors" and finds none. They promis to call back and ****NEVER DO*****

I'm really sick of it. And thing is, it's 100% routing issue as I've used tor and can access sites that are down atm. Stuff.co.nz and steampowered.com are both 100% unreachable via direct access. But use tor, and boom it loads like a champ.

Really hating 2degress support and service, does anyone else offer 200/200 fibre that is good? Shame snap went away.

That doesn't prove it's a routing issue, it could be anything, packets being dropped maybe. Suspect it'd be fine using a VPN, but I didn't think of that last night.

I moved from TC to Snap because of poor routing by TC, so if 2degrees screws that up I'll have to look at another ISP.

Well you can go read my other posts for more detail.  It's always dropped packets at snap IPs or ape.nzix.  Like I said, been testing and having this problem for months and they just never call back.  They have me supply proof and traceroutes but it never gets things fixed.

Plus if I can get 200Mbits (or about 20MB/s) from some sites with zero packet loss but get 100% from a site that otherwise works on tor.  Same destination IPs too.   It is a good indication their filter/cache/proxy is broken since the routes end in their IP space. But hey, the muppets the phone never seem to understand what I'm saying.

Tried complaining on Twitter? That seems to be the main use for Twitter. BigPipe is worth considering I think, they seem to be just a naked connection, no proxying, no caching, just a connection.

Funny, that's what snap used to be... and was still supposed to be because I have a contract.  Might be time for Fair Go instead.

Probably too technical and not enough public interest. Vote with your wallet.

Hey everyone,

We've had reports of some packet loss to a small number of services yesterday evening which we are trying to investigate with our upstream providers.

What we need is some solid information from people affected, such as what services they are having issues with, as well as some traceroutes to these services at the time the issues are occuring.

If this happens again, can you please send examples to geekzone@2degreesbroadband.co.nz with the following information so we can pass this up the chain and get things further investigated:
- Broadband username/Customer number
- Location
- Services/sites you are having issues with
- Trace routes to these sites at the time of the issue, and ideally a clean one after as well if possible.

Thanks in advance,

Ralph

It's doing it again, right now, almost the same time as yesterday. Emailing now. Traceroutes shows a lot of packet loss during the outage, much less afterwards.
