I will give it another go to setup without changing its mac address.

The router does have the internet option of Residential Gateway and you can select enable VLAN. So I give Vlan id of 10 and Vlan priority of 0. I presume VLAN ID 10 corresponds to the 802.1q and Vlan priority 0 corresponds to 802.1p in Dlink's terminology.

If it is not working, I may have to ask for a refund.

Settings look fine to me.

I would suggest keeping the NV4V in place (saves on any support issues)

Disable wifi on the NF4V and run the Dlink as a Access Point only in Bridge mode (so it gets the DHCP from the NF4V).

That way you get the best of both worlds.

That is exactly what I did at the moment. There are few things I don't quit like in that way.

If DLink router doesn't use the WAN port, I think all the fancy functions it is supposed to provide will not be there. Basically, you lost half of the functionalities you buying for.

Anyway, if I can't get this to work, I might have to change to Spark with actually allow the customers to use their own modem\routers.

I think Spark is using PPPoE, so I believe this one will work without problems.

But still, it is a mystery this thing doesn't work, I don't see why it doesn't work with Orcon anyway

There is a key difference between "allow" and "support". Spark, like Orcon allow you to use any hardware you like. Neither will provide any support other than basic settings which is what both offer.

Lots of people use 3rd party hardware with Orcon, so the fact you're struggling to get it working really only points to a configuration issue or a device that doesn't actually support the requirements.

Thanks for the reply. I think the key difference is also Spark has a webpage which has instructions of how to setup third party modem routers and Orcon has explicitly specify you can't replace their routers otherwise it is a breach of the terms and conditions. So Spark will provide support and Orcon will not. Orcon won't even talk with you regarding third party routers.
for configuration perspective I believe I got everything right. then it leaves there is a possibility the Taipan doesn't work with UFB dhcp. I personally loves the technology gadgets very much and that is why I spend 650 on a new router while I have three other expensive ones at home not being used.

Not sure if those are making any sense, I only able to capture those log somehow, D-Link router needs a syslog server to send the logs to

I don't think there is anything useful. Maybe this router doesn't support DHCP even it has that option.

I think that would be extremely unlikely as DHCP and PPPoE are the two most common types of authentication.

I'm curious why it says "Cable status: Not available" on your first screenshots. You should double check whether you have a connection between the the LAN1 port of your ONT and port 1 your D-Link router. Is the LAN1 light lit on the ONT?

For what it's worth I've seen many cases where people have endless problems with recent DSL-XXX series D-Links. Even when they configure them 100% correctly they won't connect to the internet reliably. Have seen this across ADSL, VDSL and UFB connections.

Sometimes they'll get PPP but not allow data flow. Sometimes they'll let data flow but no DNS traffic. Sometimes they'll allow both data and DNS traffic but be very (sub 1mbit) slow. Sometimes they work fine. Often in cases where they do work, the GUI will say the internet isn't connected, and the internet LED on them remains red.

I'm of the view that the firmware on D-Link's current batch of consumer DSL gear is buggy. I can't say for certain whether this is the cause of your trouble or not, but as your NF4V connects fine, your settings look OK, and Sounddude from Orcon has confirmed they don't prevent unknown devices from connecting to their network, to me it points to the problem being with the D-Link itself. :(

Maybe the only unclear thing in this is how you have the D-Link connected up. In your screenshot you have port 1 set to be the WAN port. Is port 1 connected up to the active port on the ONT? Does the corresponding light on the ONT turn on? If not, maybe try doing so with a different Ethernet cable? Could also be worth checking if there's a firmware update?

I truly regret I brought this one. I should buy that ASUS one with even crazier looking. That should be much better with same price. I am using ASUS AC68U for AP, and it is rock solid. Never disconnects.

I will try to get this one returned to Noeleeming and get that ASUS
