I will give it another go to setup without changing its mac address.
The router does have the internet option of Residential Gateway and you can select enable VLAN. So I give Vlan id of 10 and Vlan priority of 0. I presume VLAN ID 10 corresponds to the 802.1q and Vlan priority 0 corresponds to 802.1p in Dlink's terminology.
If it is not working, I may have to ask for a refund.
