You can create a VPN quite easily if you ever wanted to access the devices in your home network remotely. I tried recently and it works great.

 

Cool I may try that.  Have you created the Fritz account to resolve the dynamic IP issue or are you paying for a static IP?  I use VPNs a lot at work but never really thought about setting one up at home.  Are they secure?  I'm concerned that I'm not behind an expensive firewall and more open to attack.  I was going to expose the Synology NAS but changed my mind for the same reason!  Perhaps this is for a different thread.
