It's also not plane radar, it's weather radar. This is broadcast from 9 locations across NZ.
To use 5GHz channels in the mid range band you need DFS on, and if a radio detects a DFS broadcast it will change channel, it won't disable 5GHz.
OK, so does anyone use IPv4 port forwarding with the new OS version 6.53? I've got ports forwarded to a server and before 6.53 I didn't have any trouble with access but now it appears that the port forwards are broken and even though they're selected the router itself forgets they are enabled and blocks access from the internet. Anyone noticed this? Means right now I can't run my server as after a few hours it stops forwarding packets to the correct destination and blocks from the internet side.
Does any body know where I can download the 6.50 OS firmware from? It appears that 6.53 has now introduced wireless drop outs on the 2.4ghz range that my laptop and tablets connect via... The wired machines work fine while those mobile devices fail!

I just updated to 6.53 last night and was pleased to see 5ghz working again. Haven't checked port forwarding yet, but if what you're experiencing is in fact commonplace it looks like I'm f&*%ing downgrading to 6.3x again.
AVM are looking in to my 6.53 port forward issue, they've got my logs and all they need so far. It was basically blocking ports after a few hours of being active so it should be fairly trivial for them to find and solve.
I do have another issue with the 2.4GHz range wireless dropping out now, but will be checking the wireless transmit power to see if that is on auto for example, otherwise I'll log another ticket with them!
So AVM have come back and indicated they are unwilling to look in to the port forward position as I'm forwarding to virtual machines. They've also confirmed that my wireless is not their concern etiher and won't be looking in to that either. So, as a result I'm going to relegate my 7390 to being the modem only and pick up something better.
Disappointing service from AVM and I guess I'm going to stay clear of the routers from now on.
I'm getting dropouts between my Samsung S4 and the Fritzbox 7390 on 2.4GHz. It's recent and was probably caused by this firmware upgrade.

Raise a ticket, hopefully you'll get better luck than me. I'm going to downgrade to 6.3 in the meantime until I can get a replacement!
Fritz were hopeless when I raised a ticket, and I'm still getting regular dropouts on multiple devices. Does anyone know what the last reliable firmware version for the 7390 was? I think it was the one before the new interface.
Does anyone know how to downgrade and then load provider settings?
I found that 6.5 was actually ok, but .53 is rubbish. I gave up with the access points as they indicated it wasn't their issue and bought myself an Ubiquiti Networks AC-LR wireless AP. This works wonders (with the addition of much longer range) and the router is ok now. When I UFB I'll be ditching the fritzbox as a router and run it as the VOIP access for my fritzfon and then use either an Edgerouter or the Unifi router when they add iPV6 support.
I have 6.53 on mine and I have a few devices using the fritz as their DNS rather than my windows server so that they are not reliant on the windows server. Have seen them go offline occasionally even tho the net was up and everything else was fine. Not 100% indicitive of it being the fritz since I think it will be passing back to the isp dns, but I do not recall ever seeing that happen in the past.
I dont use the wifi, because it has always been useless. Only have it on so there is something to connect to if the power goes out and the UPS running the POE switch dies. The 5GHz on it is always moaning about radar if I used a DFS channel, yet now my unifis have the DFS channels available I have stacked them all up in a row on them and they have never moved off because of radar. Also they are up higher with a clear view to outside whereas the fritz is downstairs on a low shelf in a metal rack so should have no visibility of outside.
JayADee: Any more input on 6.53? I am still happily running 6.3 but hubby tells me the fritzfone is prompting him to update. Is it running ok for anyone who hasn't spoken up? Any change for those who were having issues?
WiFi is still cutting out for short regular intervals. When I get around to it I'll roll back a couple of versions, but I'm too busy. The interruptions aren't quite often enough to motivate me to do it Right Now, given I don't use WiFi all that much.
Have you updated to the new 6.80 firmware released this week?
