Telcos make money from international calls. As the overseas phone company that the call comes from has to pay termination charges to your phone company when you answer the call. So no surprise that they don't want to block overseas calls.

Well they make no money on the phone part when people move to naked DSL and put all their calls thru their mobile, like more and more people I know are doing.
Before long the only places with landlines will be businesses.

I've logged into the 2degrees portal but I don't see call manager?
After logging in, click on the Home Phone Plus menu, then click on the cogwheel icon beside your phone number. That brings up the phone app (I can not remember what it is called). The Call Manager is on the menu at the top of that.
It sounds lke the same guys have been calling us, we've had 3 calls from them this week so far.
It has been going on for 3 years now. Sometimes there will be a 2 month break. I tell them to stop calling and they say they have never called before and it must have been some other company.
But, every call has been them trying to sell me online trading platform for foreign currency or stocks.
Good luck getting rid of them .
coffeebaron: Next time you get a +44 call, answer in a pretend foreign language and ramble giberish until they hang up.
Honesty what will this achieve apart from some temporary internal satisfaction you annoyed them (and you did not as they know all the tricks)? They don't care. They will just move on to the next number in their infinite list.
And, someone else will call you again. They might even get malicious but i doubt it, it is just a job to them.
This is why I have an unlisted number if you know it it's because I gave it to you If I don't know you and you ring me first thing I do is ask where'd you get my number if they can't answer I tell them to never ring here again or else legal proceedings will eventuate from further calls

I only got two Microsoft support scam calls ever. On the second one I asked for "a moment to start my computer" when in fact I was loading an adult streaming website. Started playing one of the clips and the woman calling hung up on me after 20 seconds. Never got another call.

Can't really see my wife doing that. She thinking of paraphrasing the famous line from Taken.
