isphell: Do you really need our help with what is going on, I thought it was clear to all but a blind man that orcon have not purchased enough bandwidth to service their customers, don't waste peoples time with bs.

Comments like this are not helpful. If you want a forum that allows users to interact with staff of an ISP then please respect them - making comments like that doesn't help anybody.

Sorry but this comes after a long time of disrespect shown by the isp's to their customers, I just lost patience, that said i know where you are coming from and will try to tone things down a bit while still stating the truth.

YAY, it looks like Orcon has finally fixed there downloading issues, I got a email form them this morning:
"our Network Engineers made changes last night at 11:00PM, we believe that these changes may have resolved the International Traffic issue."

Sorry TechnoGuy, I got the same e-mail. But alas things have not improved at all.

Well that's a lie actually. I'm getting a 1.7KB/s download as I type Embarassed So if you consider a 1KB/s increase in download speed and improvement..........

I'm getting 4.3KB/s from internode http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/fedora/linux/releases/9/Fedora/x86_64/iso/ at the moment. I get over 210KB/s from work (that is a Xtra DSL link).
Good try Orcon - keep working on the problem though! Yes I have restarted my router Smile

Sad to hear that :(
But my speeds are still as they used to be (not any fast sadly).

I will keep an eye on the speed thou out the night and will post if it slows down again.

Edit:
I just tried downloading from that internode link you have, and it goes at normal speeds for me, I suggest you email orcon back.

I have rather a low sync rate at the moment :( so it's a little slow..

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

What happened to our internet speeds we had about 3 weeks ago??
I had fast internet no matter what the time was, I was showing off to my friends, but now iv joined them with the slow speeds on peak times :(

Orcon need to kick out the heavy downloaders slowing us down.
Or have a free download time after midnight like the other providers are doing, because this is no fun! Frown

I agree.

However, the more info we provide Orcon, the faster they can diagnose the issue and get this sorted.

I've submitted more information tonight with different sites that I'm trying to access.  I would suggest you all do the same in the hopes they magically fix it overnight.  Tongue out

I can tell your frustrated TechnoGuy.  Chin up, at least your not alone Smile

Anyone able to get this to show correctly on Orcon??  It's the NASA spacestation tracker.  Hasn't worked on Orcon since last weekend  but fine at work on Xtra.

Works fine for me:

Maybe it's just the site "The tracker may be unavailable at time due to heavy traffic on the site"

Note: It's going to pass NZ very soon!!
Snapshot taken at: 11:55 AM

Edit: It has passed NZ.

A 3.9 GB download (Fedora-9-x86_64-DVD.iso) had a speed of 838.8 KB/s  which is high for me.

This site loaded fine      http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/tracking/index.html
