What actually happens when you have literally 0 connection?

How do you know you have no connection? Can you describe exactly what happens?

As has been pointed out, there's a goo possibilty this is a wifi issue, but you really need some basic troubleshooting first. Can you move your PC next to the router, or buy/borrow an ethernet cable to plug it in where it is? Is there any device in the house that is plugged into the router, rather than wifi? If so, does this still go when everything else stops?
