rb99:

Really don't use the cellphone much, but the thing I like about skinny is it automatically takes the amount I want automatically from the credit card every month and tops it up. i.e. for the $8 pack it takes $8 every month, but on 2D I can't enter a payment of less than $20. Any way round this somewhere ?

@rb99 The dial 201 top up system allows you to top up any whole $ amount between $20 and $150 (I think). Use it to top up $24 so it will last you 3 months.

If you bank with the BNZ, their banking apps (and website) seem to allow you to do top-ups for 2D mobiles in any $ amount.

Will they change the monthly plan to match prepay?

Prepay is cheaper than pay monthly which shouldn't be the case

There's no plans to reduce the Pay Monthly plans to match our Prepay Combos at this stage. They're 2 different products. With Pay Monthly you can share your data, pay off a phone on a 24 month interest free MRO plan, set Spend Control, avoid casual rated data, get better value roaming and much more.

Cheers

and i was just about to switch to the $9 combo to burn through some of my 7gb saved up data.  clearly im not using anywhere near the 1GB a month Im getting...  I figure if I do 4 months on $9 then 8 months on $19 that averages out to $15.67 a month, which is slightly less than skinny, but has the added benefit of being per calendar month (i hate this 30 month or 28 day BS).

I noticed on skinny website the 9 dollar combo does not have any carry over min or data, does it mean it also can not use any previously accumulated allowances?

@zyo If it's not carryover then unused minutes / data expire at the end of the 28 days

I have moved a number of family members over to 2Degrees for this very reason

@zyo Correct the $9 Skinny combo is not carryover I just checked but offers 100 minutes per 28 days which is double of 2Degrees carryover plan

Ok not exactly what I'm asking

If I am currently on 16 dollar carry over plan and have say 2gb accumulated and I switch to the 9 dollar plan next month. Will I still be able to use the 2gb I accumulated?

@zyo  This is a question for Skinny maybe start a new thread but it looks like to me changing to the $9 plan you will lose the accumulated  data

You will still have your carry over but won't be able to use it while you're on the $9 plan, if you switch back to a $16, $26 or $46 plan you will be able to use it again

This.

One huge advantage of Skinny over the rest is the absence of exorbitant casual data rates when you're on a plan and run out of data. It just stops until you purchase a data add-on. Good for people who don't track their usage closely.

@cadman 2Degrees do the same when you install the data clock app which also offers you loads of free data

So if you're on a 2degrees prepay plan and run out of data, as long as you have the Data Clock app installed, it doesn't burn through any credit balance on casual data rates? Good to know.
