Connected to 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz?  Sounds like the latter.  Better connection as you get closer to the access point?

yeah it has better connection closer to access point.. moving to other rooms is sometimes getting zero connection whereas up close is strongest..... however some of the 1mbps readings have been cllose to the router depending on time of day.  Can you specify if you want it on 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz with the router i have??

5ghz. It should support having two ssid though, one for each frequency. This makes you'll have the most compatibility with a variety of devices

5Ghz is going to have a smaller coverage footprint when compared to 2.4Ghz

So if possible use 5Ghz if not then connect to 2.4Ghz
