That sounds like it could save me a hell of a lot of time.

Download the Fritzbox config file and use this tool in conjunction with the password you used to encrypt the fritz config file

Please note - you are uploading your configuration file to a 3rd party site which theoretically could expose your passwords if you use the link above. I have to say I find the treatment of those wanting to use their own SIP hardware (whether it be by providers or members of this forum) a little harsh.

I've always used a mid-range Cisco ISR i.e. 2800 (now 2900) series. These routers have perfectly good FXS capabilities themselves - being forced to have the Fritz knocking around in the bottom of my rack is sub-optimum to say the least, not to mention the extra cabling and power supply that go with it.

But worse than having another billing arrangement with another company for SIP? It's good that we don't have to make that choice anymore.

Is there any chance of you posting up a bit of step by step tutorial? (I.e what settings you had to change on you Cisco SPA112

Have had NO success with being able to configure with information provided by 2degrees.

Am in the same situation ( read 2degrees ), and needed to get my own ATA with installation of fibre and how I have set up my home network.

Am a bit of newbie but reasonably techie, that I generally work/nut things out, but this has me stuffed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get X-Lite from Bria installed and configure that on a windows machine sitting behind your firewall/router in the same location you would for SPA112. If you can get x-lite to work, then you know you have the correct user/pass credentials.

My guess is that you have a user/pass credential issue. If that's the case you have to use the homephone plus portal on 2D to reset your SIP password credentials. It's easier to test with x-lite than the SPA112

You could be going to the wrong server, too. It could be connect2.plus.snap.net.nz or it could be connect1.plus.snap.net.nz...or even some other server.

Once you get credentials working the SPA112 should be pretty easy to configure and should almost work with default settings. Here's the dial plan I recommend using for 2D at the moment - but, you know, caveat emptor.

edit: if you want to tweak and tune the SPA112 settings you can still pick and choose bits from @sbiddle's old post https://www.geekzone.co.nz/sbiddle/7208 - just don't use his dialplan. His settings for ring tones and cadence are all pretty good though and what I used.

It's outdated and doesn't include new numbers and new ranges. So certain phone numbers you wouldn't be able to call. Also it can be really slow to dial and connect. I'm pretty sure that dial plan is actually taken from 2Talk and they work for both. Dial plans are less about specific VOIP provider and more about the region. There's also a possibility to do a really generic dial plan I believe, but that could be slow or have some issues, too.
