To the OP... I know it may sound confusing with so many replies but the most important question is really if you are using GMail via the mobile browser. If that's the case then you should install the GMail app instead. This will give you the easiest access to the Gmail features - Outlook won't do it as well and consume a lot of your time.

Hi, please, I don't need any more info at the moment.
I have been using the latest Gmail app from the start and also referred to the daesktop version on my phone to check my IMAP settings.

as I summarized in my subject line.

In my last post I said thanks for the useful information I got, im appreciative of your help.. ive recieved enoughhelpful information to continue with for now and when I get a result or have more questions I will continue this thread.
