steblin: Yeah tried enabling the VDSL wan interface and wouldn't connect.

For my own knowledge, what is it that stands out in those stats that would make VDSL so poor?

Only getting 10Mbps on ADSL = don't get VDSL.

You are not going to get VDSL you should only be on a ADSL2+ connection

Your DSL stats are showing 26dB downstream attenuation, now assuming your internal wiring is not artificially contributing to this (ie poor internal wiring) then that suggests around 1.9km of cable between you and the line card. VDSL is only suitable for lines up to around half this length, so stay with ADSL.

You seem to have 2 issues:

1) Internal wiring could do with being sorted - likely contributing to the errors you see on the line, although not hugely high.

2) You do not currently have a VDSL connection - would pay to confirm with Orcon what the connection should be, and what you are paying for.

One of my upcoming projects is to compile a “current state of VDSL vectoring” and graph speeds vs line distance.

So I can’t give you a definite figure, but I don’t think we have many lines beyond 1000M getting more than 1Mbps upload.

Typically 1.5-2km is the distance that upload drops to 1Mbps on VDSL.

With 26dB attenuation I would expect a little better than 10Mbps sync rates.

Get the internal sorted out and you may hey a small increase.

Certainly not VDSL though

vectored lines will be less upload than they used to be on the edge. Reason being is the shift from 8b to 17a has a decrease in power level.

If above us0 is used. It's possible to see an increase as vectoring has a habit of allowing a few extra bins on the higher side.
Overall though chorus sadly don't enforce vectoring modems. If they did, they could look at vectoring upstream rather than just protecting it (which is still benefitical just doesn't increase speeds in most cases)

In the OPs case it looks like a dodgy line. Snr is pulling back to account for this. At 6db that current line would be about 13mbit. And if it was cleared up a tad I could see it gain a little more.

It's never going to have great upload I'd expect though.
