DNS requests aren't going outside the network.... peering would have nothing to do with it.

Depends on if you are using Firefox with DNS over HTTPS (which go to CLoudflare).

The world is changing fast in regards to DNS.

Steamzip: Thanks. I went with 2 degrees for now, because there are things I needed to take care of instore.

I went with Stuff Fibre because of their special 50% off first six months deal which also gives the Asus modem.

Plus the landline costs were cheaper. I was with Spark for 20 plus years and they could not retain me when I told them I am moving.

Deal on six months half price is here if anyone is keen.

Thanks for the 50% off 6 months referral. Just signed up.

Seems like a good deal for 900Mbps fibre. $89.95 /month with half price for 6 months, works out at around $68 / month over the 12 month contract. Nice looking router too, with mesh networking support.

Thank you for using my referral link :) I have moved away from Spark after 20 years with them as it works out really cheap and the transition is seamless.

Update: I had to got with Skinny because of the contract issue. The sales person at centre place in Hamilton oversold their plan. Took ages to work out, but once you get to the telecommunications resolution person, it was very easy to cancel. Will switch over to 2 degrees when I can afford a contract and bundle with the cell phone. No matter who you are with, the people on the bottom of the pecking order don't know much and you get conflicting stories from everyone. Have 2 friends in IT who basically came over and showed me that it would work. I really liked the 2 degrees modem, but the sales staff is woefully under-trained.

A thanks from here as well, cant complain at an extra few months 1/2 price.

I ordered on Thursday late afternoon and have a fibre connection some 44 hours later.

I have a question though: Should I complain yet?

...

Well it looks like it was chrome and or win10 driver issue as the same test on the old laptop driving the TV in the lounge will do ~380/360 down/up on an old 5Ghz card - I'll have to keep digging

I wouldn't worry about being with Skinny - they're also very good.

Wired to the 10 year old laptop I'm getting 580/560, to the much newer work Dell Latitude I'm only getting getting mid 400s up and down. So much for $1800 worth of laptop.

Just might start a new thread...

What do you do that needs more than 400Mbps? Sometimes you need to be practical. You have more than 640kB of memory...

I have $3K surface laptop 2 which absolutely sucks for WiFi, so I use USB ethernet.

I'm looking at moving to Stuff Fibre from Spark Fibre (Been out of contract for 3 months), Can i just sign up to Stuff via the link here and they'll sort out the transfer? Or do i need to notify Spark? Not sure of the process that's all.

Yes you can sign up through the link. The transfer is all seamless for me. I have given 3 weeks time for it to happen and gave spark a notice but that's normal.
