Hi, so the WAN setting on the Netcomm is found as seen in the image below. Its quite possible the Tenda does not support vlan tagging on its WAN and the screenshot you provided supports this. As others have said, why have you chosen Tenda, its like recommending someone to buy a Lada, if you want to improve your wireless then select a device like a UniFi.

Hi Cyril. Ah, I found it now; under WAN there appears to be no specific settings for VLAN, but mine replicates the image you posted. Possibly those extra settings are only visible on the single occasion of adding a new WAN service.

As regards the Lada. Before you knock Ladas, give them a chance. This Lada has extremely good wifi performance a quantum advantage over the Netcomm and worth the low cost of unit simply for that fact. I had hoped that it would work as a fibre to ethernet source, but not to be. Have found a later version of firmware but probably wont upgrade as its only a firmware number similar to original eg V02.03.01.59_cn vs V02.03.01.82_cn and if the firmware is even for the right box.

Run the Lada in AP mode.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

The original plan was to use the Tenda for wireless access.

BTW, anyone know, is there a list of specs for various ISP connection requirements in NZ eg those who use CGNAT, VLAN ID (802.1Q): 10 802.1P (Priority)

Perhaps be useful for someone who has their own modem and wants an ISP that suits their hardware.

Possibly many like me, have several ;-)

Yes great, but no mention of CGNAT; I presume this is still used with fibre? My old Flip ADSL account was a real pain with CGNAT as it kept changing IP when you are logged in and you have to relog to stay afloat. At least, that was my experience, once again, I could be wrong!

I guess CGNAT wasn't widely used at the time, but specifying it in that list won't affect people's ability to connect to stock standard fibre internet [as CGNAT is determined by the ISP once connection is made], that's more of a question per ISP unless someone wants to put that information in there. So far, as far as fibre goes, 2degrees do CGNAT by default..not clued up on others for fibre

Repeating my experience; CGNAT is horrible, I would not join an ISP that uses it.

I would agree that CGNAT may not be great for some people. I, myself, have opted to get a static IP on a Spark 4G plan because what I need to be able to do won't run thru CGNAT, but for the majority of people, I would expect they would not notice a difference

I updated soon as i got this modem the nf18acv im with slingshot

Reflashing the firmware of the RSP managed device with the generic firmware isn't something that should be encouraged.

Disagree. Typically, you might be logged into your Kiwibank account, set up a transaction, press [pay] and end up with a login screen as cgnat has changed your IP.

This happened to me tens if not a hundred times.

My cpanel for web hosting used to drive me crazy with several logouts in a single session.

Since moving to fibre with no CGNAT this issue is resolved.

Ah ok, I didn't realise that nor experience it when I was briefly on CGNAT. That sucks. I guess their mobile apps must use a different way of maintaining a session as most mobile connections will operate under CGNAT

Hi a common but easily fixed issue with CG-NAT can be premature tcp timeouts, if you had advised your isp the should have been able to sort that short order.

Edit, also your ip is unlikely to have changed this is typically on a same lease time to non CG-NAT connections, it is more likely tcp timeouts, some ISPs don't seem to monitor and catch this issue, others do.

Flip was a great ISP apart from that, they said they could not do anything to stop the IP from changing.
