Yep as mentioned above, no 5G, but it does have both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi, but only if the RSP uses it as the RGW, which none do.

That looks like a model 300 ONT. No 5G (mobile) but it has the ability to do 5Ghz wifi, which is totally different. However, the latter is not offered by any RSP currently.

yip , its only got one antenna = 300....

Chorus were complaining last year they couldn't get stock so were moving to 400s, But I guess the fibre tech still had a few in the back of the van..

But for the nth time, No 5G,  only WIFI if it was offered , but its not...

While what you are saying may still be correct but at the Berlin conference in 2020 Chorus were pushing for our government to make 5G shareable in NZ rather than have each carrier trying to duplicate theirl own 5G. If they think there is going to be a move to make it shareable it would make sense to have their ONT handle it. They also mentioned people wanting 5G in their homes as a fall back if there fibre goes down. That did also seem sensible. I could have done with that over weekend outage

Your router may have the ability to utilise mobile coverage as a fallback if your fibre service fails (my Spark Smart Modem has a slot for a SIM card) - but no, that sort of thing wouldn't be in the ONT.

To me, that still wouldn't make sense to have 5G in each of the ONTs. By looking at your ONT picture, even if it did emit 5G I don't think you'd be even able to use because of the location of your installation. Other than that there are much worse complications doing so like 5G spectrum allocation, current 5G infrastructure investments by carriers, not forgetting people freaking out for 5G radio inside each house.

This idea is more of like the old Vodafone signal booster or for 5G, something like this from the blockchain angle - Helium 5G
