The ones calling to my Daughters phone don't know her name, either ask for a 'Conrad' and say they're from a Finance company. Once, when my wife spoke with the other end, they asked if we wanted to invest in Bit coin

Case closed then.

It matches the ones reported online for scam finance sales then.

Report to DIA or get a new sim/number.

I got a scam call yesterday from 04 831... which, according to the Wikipedia page linked above, doesn't exist.

The scammers knew my name, so clearly my number has leaked out of a database somewhere.

I just got one from 04 831 as well. It's a Vodafone range.

Someone at work just had 0800800021 call them. Left a nonsense message they said.

Vodafone Customer Service?

Perhaps, or perhaps its someone pretending to be them. They seem to forget every 6 months or so they have been told no to upgrading or getting broadband or whatever so no good ever comes from answering a call from them even if it is legit.

09 884 is assigned to "Symbio Wholesale NZ Limited". It's a valid number range.

Not according to Wikipedia

And Symbio Wholesale is based in Wellington. Wellington Area Code is 04.

As an aside we have just been allocated a number 09 884 4xxx by Microsoft for use in Teams so its definitely valid for NZ

Symbio is a legit voice provider, rather like 2talk, so I'd expect they'll give you area codes of your choosing (if the callers are not simply spoofing the number).

I'm now receiving these calls almost daily, and from different numbers each time. Annoying as hell! Those making the calls know what they're doing, as they are now laughing when you tell them to just ehf off!

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I just had a call from (09) 884 5031.

A google search led me to here :)

I never answer calls from numbers I don't know. I'm not even worried about losing business over it. If it's someone who wants me they will leave a message.
