That's true of W(LAN) to WAN traffic, but not of WLAN to W(LAN) traffic.

True. I don't really think about that these days. WLAN is used mostly for mobile computing anything requiring more robust connectivity and bandwidth we have connected via wired ethernet. We finally got our house/office wired to a degree.
