re. 2d, I think there sales team is local, at least that was my impression when we signed up a year ago. There support weren't great then either (definitely not like NowNZ support, which was clearly NZ based and really easy to understand, they're who who migrated from).

We also had a stuck "pending order" as a 2d new customer, but after calling them up a few times did eventually get it fixed.

Had a few other issues onboarding, I do hope they've made the experience better since.

Our 2d contract is ending very soon wouldn't mind moving ship. quic sounds promising reading the replies here.

Final update from me.  Thanks to the a 2D staffer on here who has been pro-actively DM'ing me and knowledgeably explaining the background to the issues I've experienced with our account, and ultimately sorting them out for me.  This has offset my OP grumbles quite a bit, even though it's been thanks to the contact platform provided by Geekzone.  2D staffer also readily acknowledged call centre issues and will report that through internal channels.  So this gives me pause to reconsider moving while our contract runs down.  Thanks everyone.

On the topic of onshore or offshore support, to state the bleeding obvious: if we all move herd like for the cheapest offers this is one of the inevitable results.

Downsizing! Times must be tough. I have been a myrepublic customer for the last 8 years. Since I think 2018 the customer service has sucked but the internet connection has suited our needs and remand steady. I hope 2degrees will remain fair and not alter our service too much. But it also would be good to have a backup plan if they do suck. I too have a static ip and also a landline with MR. Not sure how that will go in the transfer

...

Does anyone know, if your 2D contract ends, do they want the Fritz!box back?  I'm very comfortable with it....  Edit:  oh I see PB is selling them.  Hasn't previously been the case so that's an option too.

Yes they want it back, they send you a courier bag

Just a redux of this as it may inform someone else.

So as I described after helpful intervention by a 2D staffer here (more informational than anything else) I decided to stick with 2D a bit more and see how it goes.  Note we are an old Snap PPPoe customer on static IP, and they have been migrating services.

That Friday night last, internet down for 12 hours.  Fritz and ONT resets didn't help.  Router log was showing continual connection and clearing.

Called 2D on Sat morning, 10.30 AM.  On hold for 75 mins.  Eventually got the very helpful Anna (in NZ).  She looked and saw we had two "sessions" connected, and cleared them, I restarted.  Connection came good.  She mentioned there were a few other unspecified weirdness's.  We deduced that our connect was still PPPoe (due to Snap login credentials) and that it's advised to change to DHCP.  This wasn't obvious how-to in the Frtiz, and it took her a while to locate the correct info how-to.  Once that was found, she stepped me through the new connection details.  Re-connected and now appear to be via DHCP and all good.  She also mentioned that support can no longer access the router themselves - may change.

It all took a while, but I'm glad to of have the local support in that instance (with no disrespect intendded to offshore subcontractors).  The support I got was very helpful and willing to keep digging even if the information was not apparently instantly on demand.

What strikes me is it just seems there have been some wrinkles in the migration especially for old customers, and I don't think offshore support may of understood contexts like 'old Snap customer' off the bat.

Connection again since last night.  Router log is multiple

DHCPv4 no answer on REQUEST
DHCPv4 no answer on DISCOVER

Again managed to get NZ support.  Advised to factory reset modem.  I was reluctant but did it.  Came back as factory default for 2D PPPoe.  Was told to enter same settings for DHCP as last time.  No change, still no connect.

Was then told only option was to get sent a Netgear Orbi.  I accepted, but I believe this will change nothing.  Some major problems at 2D end with migration.  Pretty exasperated as it's really messed up my day and days to come work wise.

Any one here have any ideas?  Even if it's "try the Orbi" ?

Whilst it’s frustrating, my suggestion now is to move the connection to another provider.

These issues shouldn’t be happening!

No modem will fix this as other users are reporting similar issues to you.

The bonus is once you shift providers and decide to go back to 2D in the future, you will be setup on the new system as a new user.

It’s a shame really. As 2D used to be really good.

Quic seems to be a good option here
