freitasm:

I feel your pain. I tried to access my mother-in-law's account to check if her connection had been migrated. It has, so I went to the new portal and tried to login. It failed with "invalid password".

I then tried the password reset but the email never arrived. It didn't because Office 365 sent it to quarantine - it failed the most basic IP check so Exchange Online sent it away.

The thing is - the form says "email or username" for login but I found out email doesn't work. I tried username only, with the old password and it worked.

Perhaps @SaskiaDonnell could check with the platform folks:

  1. Why reset emails are failing security checks (here is a word salad for them to check: IP reputation, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and
  2. Why the form says "email or username" but only works with username.

I have a problem with logging into 2Talk's newer portal as well... The portal asks for phone number and password, which worked on the older platform, but it actually wants a username and password, no phone number..is this a vocus/2d thing I wonder

Exactly.  They're working out where the floor is with how cheap they can run the ship.

Come December I'm off to BigPipe or Inspire, unless someone has decent recommendations.

Inspire would be okay, I think Skinny may be on the way out though. Voyager may be worth a look as well.

To be fully honest I don't understand why anyone would join BigPipe these days. Take a look at Quic (note - there are a bunch of people on Geekzone with referrals + free installation in their signatures so pick who you want to give $50 to).

With 2degrees - I've said this many times on sign-up to Quic just put in the notes "Please VLAN tag connection" and things should just move over without any issues assuming you're using PPPoE with VLAN 10 as Quic use port based authentication. Once moved, I'd recommend changing your router's PPPoE username / password to anything except blank.

Plenty of other providers out there too like Skinny (which is the same network as BigPipe / Spark) but it all comes down to what you need in a provider also.

Due to the latest 2degrees price rises have a look for an email about their price rises. If you got this, and you're impacted then this is a way of getting out of a contract.

Ok, other than you getting a $50 from referral, what is the actual benefit of Quic?  There's no support, its all self-managed, so if my partner is working from home she will be screwed if anything goes wrong.  No CG-NAT, ok don't really care since ive never been personally affected by it on 2degrees. Other provider offer cheaper pricing on a 12 month contract, which is no issue since i dont rent.  I do want to move away from 2Degrees, but it seems Quic is just another flavour of the month with everyone shilling to just get $50?

Money talks ;)

I've been looking around and not found anyone who can offer me what I want cheaper. But if what you want is available cheaper elsewhere then obviously its a smart move for you.

Quic is upfront about what they offer and don't offer, so if you feel paying an extra $10+ a month to have "support" available should things go wrong, then that's your call - but for a majority of GZ users, they self-help etc anyway, and end up needing to talk to the engineers rather than frontline support.

I'm going to head to Quic, not even thinking about the "potential" $$ I could gain....

At least quic is honest, 2degrees merely pretends to provide support and charges you for it.

We now have a Quic sub-forum, you can post this question there.

Hint: it's Vetta.

No, people are not "shilling" to get $50. I legitimately like them and will still recommend even if the referral incentive wasn't there. I've got a number of friends who have shifted from 2degrees + Voyager over to them without any issues and personally I like supporting the smaller players.

Quic have their own network (Vetta) - the peeringdb is here: https://www.peeringdb.com/net/6836

Also, there is support. There is live chat on their website along with self service tools to diagnose issues. Same thing goes as per any provider you still need to log a fault if you have a full outage. Sure, it isn't for everyone but for the majority of people here it is a great provider seeing it is a one-off cost for a Static IP and they provide self service tools to identify if a fault exists locally in your house or if it is a wider issue.

They're aimed at technical users. My Wife wouldn't call my provider anyway if there was an outage and instead tell me the internet is down leaving me deal with it so their support model suits me.

But anyway this is off-topic. Post in their subforum.

Even if you have an ISP with support, 9/10 they wont help unless youre the account holder anyway, so my wife calling, would get nowhere.

It also depends if you need access to wifi calling or not. I assume Quic cannot provide this.

@Bluntj Wi-Fi calling is not ISP related but mobile network provider

I can visit a friends house in Norway connect to the Wi-Fi and still use 2degrees Wi-Fi calling no issues

Yeah I use wifi calling heaps of places, doesn't seem to need anything special from the wifi connection itself.

Just made general enquiry at 2degrees store as walking by today.

Asked if when my contract expires in a month or so on fibre, if can renew in store.

They told me no, that ringing in is the proper way to get 1 year contract offers.

I then said most wait times seem to be over an hour with ringing in.  Not interested in waiting on phone for that time to renew contract, when should be simpler way.

They replied on lines that it is the only way to renew. I replied it seems they are going to lose a lot of customers. Response was they’ll pass feed back on.

Sure I’ve read about people being able to renew in store on here, looks like that has changed.

Edit: on Gmail password reset didn’t work for me either, but then I managed to log in with email address, password.

I checked spam folder and nothing there either.
