2Degree's, Enable, Christchurch.

Only some IP's seem to have this problem many Valve servers..

CS2 completely unplayable since I switched to 2Degrees a month ago.. No issues prior.

Thought I'd post here too.. few threads ongoing..

@SALADNZ

Seeing packet loss on a ping to devices within a networks infrastructure is OK and I would class as normal. Network elements aren't built or engineered to be ping destinations, and more often than not will also employ ICMP rate limiting, filtering or otherwise.

The most important factor with a ping plot or MTR is seeing what loss is showing at the end destination, then working backwards to determine where that loss may be getting initiated from.

Looking at your ping plot, there's 0% loss to the end destination of Google, with only loss showing on the BNG hop, so that in its self isn't indicating a glaring issue in isolation.

If you're having issues with Valve servers, it may be more beneficial to perform some ping plots or MTRs to the Valve servers with issues and go from there.

Since that recent outage, a few nights between 1900~2200 I've had about 6 instance of full loss of internet connectivity. Each time lasting about 2 minutes.

  • Discord disconnects
  • Unable to ping 8.8.8.8, 1.1.1.1, apple.com
  • Steam disconnects
  • Web pages wont load

More annoying than anything

Back to normal now, but starting to wonder if this is going to become a regular thing on Friday evenings.

10:33pm, just experienced some connectivity hiccup. Discord was OK, but Steam and my Hell Divers game dropped due to no connectivity.

Upload tanked as it came back.

Linux: Has anyone tagged in 2degrees staff members in this thread?

Better yet... Has anyone here actually logged faults with 2degrees via official channels?

I've raised this internally with our network support team to investigate.

The issue was observed again last night and as a result we have shifted some traffic around Christchurch at midnight to try resolve the problem. Please let me know if things improve or not here with your speedtests/traceroutes/pingplotter screenshots etc.

@Cxf said they observed the issue occur again last night (Saturday). I noticed it took a very long time on Saturday night for a movie streaming app to load on my Smart TV and then navigate content in the app, but I didn't encounter any issues actually streaming a movie.

Speed test results are normal today.

I'll report back if I notice problems again.

Here is the Google Internet speed test, it's been like this all day:

Speed Test to Wellington:

Local Speedtest to CHCH:

I have no experienced any micro outages which im happy with.

I checked my internet usage and saw that my household are very heavy users - averaging 600Gb of traffic a month.. I wonder if 2D are throttling me :)

Happy to help assist - I need to get motivated to build a homelab with some cool internet dashboards.

@watchthisspace very heavy? Many do over 1tb per month now. I do over 15tb most months. 600gb is light use really and 2degrees don’t throttle 😊

Test on another device and always ensure you’re using Ethernet to test with also.
