Take a look at contact , their good nights plan. We are only on the low user plan in Auckland which is 90 cents per day, and 30 cents per kWh, and manage to get around 30% of our monthly usage into the free off-peak time period (every night 9pm-midnight).

They also offer fibre broadband, and if you join for a year they currently offer a $300 account credit.

Taking into account the account credit on offer, it could be worthwhile joining for a year, then explore your options again.

These days it makes no sense to stay loyal to one provider, as there tends to be sign up bonuses for new customers, which makes it well worth while to change yearly.

Thank you for all the replies, so far I am looking at Frank Energy: $1.04 daily and 25c per kWh and 2degress for gigabit Fibre $73 and 2 x mobiles $50 and $30 each with 10GB mobile data each, I am trying to see if I can find anything better for everything, specifically fibre and mobiles, even if they have to be bundled

Out of interest, I looked at Frank's pricing (as a Standard User), for 2 weeks (as Flick bills fortnightly), with Frank I would have paid $170.926. I paid $153.65 to Flick. So even with Flick having a higher daily charge, I am paying less due to the off-peak usage.

So, if you have the inclination to, compare your last bill with some other companies just to be sure you're definitely getting the best power price with Frank :)

Personally for me the following was given for both:

Frank
Daily: $1.04
kWh: $0.25

Bill Estimate: $163.13

Flick:
Daily: $1.38
Off-peak: 24.62c/kWh
Peak: 34.71c/kWh

Bill estimate: $187.63

Both on low plans

With a company like Contact, offering plans with free usage 9pm-midnight, dont forget to account for a percentage of usage which you can move to the free period.

You might be surprised how much you can push into the free off-peak period, things like washing machines, driers, dishwashers, usage can easily be moved to off-peak periods.

Contact with broadband and a $300 account credit is likely cheaper overall than Frank energy.

I did take a look and it worked out much more expensive:

The internet is $95 per month, where as 2degress is $73 so over 12 months it's $264 more for internet than 2degress

Then the power rates are more as well (for me):

38.295c per kWh

$1.38/day

This will quickly negate the free night hours and the remainder of the free $300 credit

Wow, there is a vast difference then in terms of the rates offered within Auckland. We are in Hobsonville, low user is 90 cents per day, and 30 cents per kWh.

Been on the phone for well over 3 hours now with 2 degrees support , this is the 4th call now just to have my mobile number transferred over, over seas support is in South Africa so it's kind of interesting hearing old accents again.

Why is this so hard?

Linux: You do it online why would you need to call?

Because it doesn't work, I wouldn't be wasting my time with support calls if it worked.

Time to scare you.

I pay 17.11 cents per KwH with a daily charge of 59.10 cents before GST.

In Christchurch and so far my power company has yet to try and raise my rates.
