Surely any IPv4+IPv6 dual stack DNS server would automatically prefer using the IPv4 address in this case?

 

Also I thought Metaname was one of those registrars that didn't do DNS hosting?

When available, IPv6 is normally preferred in most cases - there is an RFC that sets this out.

 

Metaname host my secondary name servers (as copies from my primary name server on my home network).  But you can also set them up as the primary name server.

Looks like Metaname removed their IPv6 hosts, which has resolved the issue for now.
