I wonder if it's too geeky to print out 2D's SIM artwork and cover over my Telecom SIM with it hehe.

Yes. Yes, it is. :-)

richms: in the UK, go on a plan and you get 5 prepaid sims free to give to your friends and family so they are on network...

infact look at the deals here - http://www.freesimcardsnow.co.uk/

How sad is that, nearly every network in england is giving out free sims, o2 is giving 4 sims away PP for free. even vodafone UK gives them away for free, but vodafone nz has the cheek to charge $35 with only $10 credit loaded....

2D is setting an example which telecom and vodafone better not follow so everyone switches to 2D. :D

It wasn;t that long ago in the UK (5-6 years) that SIMs were $10-$20. Whether it was competition or scale that drove the price down I don't know. If scale, then we wil never see deal like that (1/10 the population means scale goes out of the window) however if it was competition then we may see better deals from Telecom and Voda if 2d come out with very cheap sims.

Sounds like a trick to find who's leaking confirmed prices... Don't take the free pinot :)

If it's not, I'll have a bottle! and a $20 SIM. Can't wait for launch.

$79 nokia 1202 also coming in stock on the same day, hope thats not the only end of the market they will have handsets for.

Any word on account offerings from them yet or are they just launching with prepay?

I figure you pick up the cheap $2 SIM and then you will able to change what plan is connected to but by default is a pre paid type of plan. I guess you will be able to select a plan on-line and get going straight up with a credit card. With no term plans it should be easy.

The sims being $2 has really devalued the chinwag promo IMO - unless you get those ahead of them going on sale at DSE etc then IMO its better to spend the $2 and not hand over your details to 2degrees - oh well, too late now since just yesterday I got everyone to register for chinwag to get the sims.... bugger.
